Job Summary

This position requires flexibility and availability to work scheduled shifts during dispensary operating hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and shifts that may extend past 2:00 AM.

Shift Leads are responsible for assessing the needs of our patients and educating and guiding them in selecting the appropriate cannabis products. They embody a "customer first" approach, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent service. A successful Shift Lead will elevate company standards, achieve sales goals, and exceed patient expectations. Budtenders are expected to inspire customer confidence and foster long‑term loyalty to the Terrabis brand. The Shift Lead will handle opening and closing duties, communicate product and policy updates to Budtenders, and assist managers in creating an atmosphere of learning and continued education. They must maintain accurate records of all customer identification and registration documents, manage customer traffic flow, and respond to enquiries. The Shift Lead will also record, arrange, package, and sell customer orders. The ideal candidate maintains a professional appearance and an organized work and facility environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain strict inventory controls to ensure full, comprehensive regulatory compliance across all dispensary operations.
• Ensure POS stations are clean, stocked, and ready at store opening.
• Ensure Budtender opening and closing checklists are completed in a timely manner.
• Always maintain proper cash handling procedures.
• Greet customers on arrival and wish them farewell on departure.
• Deliver excellent customer service in every interaction.
• Inform management and supervisors of any low‑stock product or inventory issues.
• Have comprehensive knowledge of cannabis products, the cannabis industry, and related subjects.
• Be knowledgeable of all sales and promotions, including in‑store weekly/daily deals.
• Participate in staff events, outings, and promotional events.
• Read industry publications to stay up to date on current and future trends.
• Provide in‑store new hire training and mentorship to incoming Budtenders with direction from Manager.
• Ensure your uniform is clean and that you are prepared for your scheduled shift.
• Perform other duties or projects as assigned by managers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ year of customer service experience; preference for candidates with specialty, customer‑facing retail or cannabis‑related experience.
• Consistent demonstration of excellent customer service skills.
• Previous experience with POS systems.
• Desire to continuously learn about cannabis, cannabinoids, the endocannabinoid system, and cannabis therapies – previous knowledge preferred.
• Strong listening and effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with various audiences.
• Proficiency with standard office and computer equipment, including word processing, database management, spreadsheet applications, and email.
• Understanding of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations as they pertain to the industry, personnel law, safety regulations, local municipal codes, and organizational rules, regulations, directives, and standard operating procedures.

Additional Requirements

• Must be 21 years or older.
• Remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the cannabis industry.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 30 pounds (100 pounds with assistance) and may include sitting or standing for extended periods, stooping, bending over, or down.
