Job summary

Chattanooga Goodwill Industries in Fort Oglethorpe, GA is seeking a Shift Lead to supervise store operations, assist customers, and ensure quality service during assigned shifts.

You will train associates, maintain standards, and support the mission of Goodwill by promoting a welcoming, efficient retail environment.

Qualifications

  • High School degree or GED, preferred.
  • Prior retail experience or customer service/relations experience preferred.
  • 6 months supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills in English as well as interpersonal skills, bilingual a plus.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Reliable transportation and communication required.
  • Must be available to work during operating business hours as needed for business operations. Work schedule includes days, evenings, holidays and weekends are required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise store personnel during assigned shift to ensure operational standards are met.
  • Greet, assist, and provide excellent customer service to donors and customers.
  • Develop, train, coach, and support store associates for career growth within the organization.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure adherence to agency policies and SOPs.
  • Monitor store appearance and housekeeping to agency standards.

What will a Shift Lead do?


  • Through words and actions support Chattanooga Goodwill’s Mission, Vision, and Values; furthermore, actions and decisions will align with organizational guiding principles.

  • Maintain agency, employee, and participants confidentiality. Violation of confidentiality may be cause for termination.

  • Punctual and dependable attendance.

  • Supervise all store personnel as applicable during assigned shift to ensure operational standards are met.

  • Develop, train, coach, and support store associates for career growth within the organization.

  • Comply with agency policies and Donated Goods Retail standard operating procedures (SOPs) and the agency’s safety and security policies and procedures.

  • Greet, assist, and provide excellent customer service to donors and customers.

  • Assist and resolve any complaints and communicate complaints and issues to the management team.

  • Maintain proficiency for tasks required in all workstations.

  • Monitor and maintain overall store appearance and housekeeping to agency standards.

  • Perform and assist in all functions completed by store personnel.

  • Support in maintaining all company records and reports accurately and in a timely fashion.

  • Attend all meetings and training as required by the agency.

  • Review and be familiar with Goodwill Industries of the Greater Chattanooga Area safety policies, programs and procedures and adhere to all safety rules, regulations, and safety codes. Attend safety training and meetings and report any unsafe work conditions, accidents, or injuries immediately.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Key Knowledge and Experience:


  • High School degree or GED, preferred.

  • Prior retail experience or customer service/ relations experience preferred.

  • 6 months supervisory experience preferred.

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills in English as well as interpersonal skills, bilingual a plus.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Must be able to adapt to growth and a changing environment within the Agency.

  • Ability to complete and maintain: CPR and First Aid certifications.

  • Reliable transportation and communication required.

  • Must be available to work during operating business hours as needed for business operations. Work schedule includes days, evenings, holidays and blackout periods, weekends are required.
