Job summary

Goodwill Industries of the Greater Chattanooga Area is seeking a Shift Lead for the Dalton, GA store to support the mission, supervise staff, and ensure excellent customer service. You will train and coach associates, maintain store standards, and coordinate daily operations with the management team.

The role requires strong English communication, reliability, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic retail environment.

Qualifications

• High School degree or GED preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to work with diverse customers and maintain professionalism.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and store systems.
• Reliable transportation and availability for varied hours, including holidays.

Responsibilities

• Supervise store personnel during assigned shift to ensure standards are met.
• Develop, coach, and support associates for career growth within the organization.
• Greet and assist donors and customers with excellent service.
• Handle complaints and communicate issues to management.
• Maintain store appearance and housekeeping to agency standards.
• Adhere to safety policies and participate in training as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What will a Shift Lead do?

• Through words and actions support Chattanooga Goodwill’s Mission, Vision, and Values; furthermore, actions and decisions will align with organizational guiding principles.
• Maintain agency, employee, and participants confidentiality. Violation of confidentiality may be cause for termination.
• Punctual and dependable attendance.
• Supervise all store personnel as applicable during assigned shift to ensure operational standards are met.
• Develop, train, coach, and support store associates for career growth within the organization.
• Comply with agency policies and Donated Goods Retail standard operating procedures (SOPs) and the agency’s safety and security policies and procedures.
• Greet, assist, and provide excellent customer service to donors and customers.
• Assist and resolve any complaints and communicate complaints and issues to the management team.
• Maintain proficiency for tasks required in all workstations.
• Monitor and maintain overall store appearance and housekeeping to agency standards.
• Perform and assist in all functions completed by store personnel.
• Support in maintaining all company records and reports accurately and in a timely fashion.
• Attend all meetings and training as required by the agency.
• Review and be familiar with Goodwill Industries of the Greater Chattanooga Area safety policies, programs and procedures and adhere to all safety rules, regulations, and safety codes. Attend safety training and meetings and report any unsafe work conditions, accidents, or injuries immediately.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Knowledge and Experience:

• High School degree or GED, preferred.
• Prior retail experience or customer service/ relations experience preferred.
• 6 months supervisory experience preferred.
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills in English as well as interpersonal skills, bilingual a plus.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Must be able to adapt to growth and a changing environment within the Agency.
• Ability to complete and maintain: CPR and First Aid certifications.
• Reliable transportation and communication required.
• Must be available to work during operating business hours as needed for business operations. Work schedule includes days, evenings, holidays and blackout periods, weekends are required.
