Job description

Ambulance Service Coordinator: provides administrative direction, coordinates development and evaluation of ambulance personnel, maintains operational aspects of the patient care unit, and renders supportive care to patients at scenes and during transport.

Minimum Qualifications

• Licensure – must possess current licensure as required by the state where services are provided.
  • West Virginia: Paramedic through West Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services
  • National Registry: Paramedic through National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (unless state license is SLO)
• Valid driver’s license.
• CPR Instructor Certified.

Experience

• Two (2) years of clinical experience.
• Completion of Emergency Vehicle Operations Course.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor through American Heart Association.
• Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS) Certification through International Trauma Life Support (ITLS).

Core Duties and Responsibilities

• All duties and responsibilities of a staff paramedic.
• Assist Ambulance Service Manager with fiscal planning and capital expenses.
• Schedule and control daily operating procedures (petty cash, trips, log books, etc.).
• Supervise all Ambulance service personnel activities and educational requirements.
• Provide input into patient care policy and procedures; coordinate pre‑hospital management with Medical Staff.
• Serve as an essential member of the department and multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality, cost‑effective outcomes.
• Maintain professional competency to meet department and hospital standards.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent walking, sitting, standing, kneeling, bending, and crouching.

Working Environment

• Maintain a safe environment and be cognizant of infection control issues and environmental factors.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to be scheduled based on operational needs.
• Ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with guests.
• Awareness of hazardous materials and mass casualty incident training.
