Job summary

RR Donnelley & Sons is seeking a hands-on Production/Operations Associate to support manufacturing processes and audit workflows to meet specifications. You will help maintain safety, quality controls, and training activities across shifts.

You will inspect products, coordinate with management on policy questions, and assist with continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining accurate records. Qualified candidates will have a High School diploma and 1+ year manufacturing experience, plus

• 1+ year of experience in manufacturing/operations.
• Strong understanding of policies, procedures and regulations.
• Oversight of junior staff and auditing for accuracy.

• Effective written and oral communication across departments.
• Organizational skills; meet deadlines and adjust workloads.

Responsibilities

• Instruct and guide employees; audit work processes to ensure production specs.
• Maintain positive relationships; direct employees to management for policy questions.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and procedures.
• Inspect products/shipments to verify conformance to specs.
• Review/approve production samples and shipments as needed.

Job Description

• Provide instruction and guidance to employees and audit work processes and products to confirm production specifications are met
• Maintain positive and effective relationships with employees. Direct employees to the appropriate manager regarding policy questions
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, quality standard, policies and procedures. Report any problems, potential problems, hazardous situations to management
• Inspect products and/or shipments to verify conformance to specifications
• Review and approve production samples, and/or shipments as necessary
• Assist management with implementation of "Continuous Improvement" initiatives
• Maintain records; compile standard reports, file, tabulate, and perform routine clerical tasks
• When necessary, attend production meetings and/or confer with other departments to coordinate production activities
• Coordinate or perform training for new employees, contract workers, and/or guests to ensure safety, quality, and production requirements are understood

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• 1 or more years of experience in a manufacturing/operations environment
• Able to consistently apply applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and program objectives when carrying out the duties of the job
• May provide oversight of work conducted by junior-level staff and/or review/audit work for accuracy.
• Must have basic knowledge of technology including computers and software programs such as MS Office, MAC word processing, spreadsheets, or other programs specific to the job in order to complete job duties successfully
• Must have adequate oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively across departments when completing assignments
• Must have strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and prioritize workload and make adjustments to meet business needs
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and rarely lift in excess of 50 pounds
