Job summary

Carris Reels Group is seeking a Band III Machine Operator for the Mill and Bolt Divisions, on the 2nd shift in Rutland, VT. You will safely operate CNC machines or bolt-making equipment, perform limited setups, and troubleshoot issues as trained.

The role requires reading specifications, measuring materials with tools, and maintaining a clean, safe work area while meeting production targets.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow customer specifications and production requirements.
  • Proficiency in reading a tape measure and using basic measuring tools.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently operate multiple CNC machines or bolt-making equipment.
  • Perform limited machine setups and reset equipment for new production cycles.
  • Load and unload materials using vacuum lift or manual handling as required.
  • Monitor production and machine cycles; stack finished material and maintain organized areas.
  • Troubleshoot machine issues and perform basic repairs after training.
  • Follow OSHA safety rules and company procedures at all times.

Machine Operator opportunities are available for individuals interested in working with CNC machines or bolt-making equipment. These positions involve safely operating equipment, performing limited setups, troubleshooting equipment, maintaining quality and productivity, and keeping work areas clean and organized.

What You’ll Do
  • Safely and efficiently operate multiple CNC machines or bolt-making equipment.
  • Perform limited machine setups and reset equipment for new production cycles.
  • Load and unload materials using vacuum lift equipment and/or manual handling as required.
  • Monitor machine cycles and production, unload and stack finished material, and maintain an organized work area.
  • Troubleshoot machine and equipment issues and perform basic repairs and preventative maintenance once trained.
  • Read and use measuring tools, which may include micrometers, scales, and tape measures.
  • Read and follow customer specifications and production requirements.
  • Coordinate materials and production needs with the Shift Supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Follow all OSHA requirements, company safety rules, procedures, and training.
  • Recognize and report hazards and actively participate in the company safety program.
  • Maintain excellent attendance and work overtime when business needs require.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by assisting in other areas or buildings as needed.
  • Continue learning and developing new manufacturing skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QualificationsWhat We’re Looking For
Education & Experience
  • Prior machine operation or manufacturing experience preferred based on demonstrated ability.
  • General knowledge of small hand tools.
  • Forklift experience or license preferred; must be willing to obtain a forklift license.
  • High school diploma or educational equivalent preferred.
Skills & Abilities
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow specifications and instructions.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Proficiency in reading a tape measure.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and adapt to changing situations.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and listening skills.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
