Job summary

Epiroc's SHEQ Manager, CSC NASA, based in Akron, OH, leads safety, health, environment and quality programs for the NASA Customer Solution Center. You will develop, implement, and maintain programs that ensure regulatory compliance and customer requirements across onsite, remote, and field teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant safety or quality field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in safety, health, environmental, quality, compliance, or related areas.
  • Experience supporting industrial, warehouse, service, or distribution operations.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, MSHA, and ISO management systems.
  • Experience with audits, corrective actions, and document control.
  • Ability to translate requirements into practical guidance.

Join Our Team as a SHEQ Manager at Epiroc!

The SHEQ Manager, CSC NASA is responsible for leading Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality programs for the NASA Customer Solution Center. This position develops, implements, and maintains SHEQ programs that support compliance with legal, regulatory, customer, and company requirements. The role leads compliance initiatives, supports risk reduction, develops training and communication, conducts audits and inspections, manages required reporting and documentation, and helps build a proactive safety and quality culture across onsite, remote, and field-based teams. The SHEQ Manager also helps CSC NASA continue building mature, scalable SHEQ and Management System processes, including serving as the Local Site Admin for the CSC NASA Management System and supporting future ISO-aligned management systems and potential certification readiness.

This role requires strong knowledge of safety, health, environmental, quality, and Management System practices, along with the ability to translate requirements into practical processes that support the way the Customer Center operates. The SHEQ Manager partners across CSC NASA and with divisional SHEQ, Sourcing, and Supply Chain teams to strengthen safe work practices, support injury and illness management, improve compliance and audit readiness, and create consistent expectations across the Customer Center’s diverse employee groups, functions, and work environments.

Work Type:

This role is based at the facility in Akron, Ohio, which includes office space, configuration operations, a service workshop, and distribution operations supporting parts and consumables. The position supports employees working onsite in Akron as well as field sales, customer care, technical support, and functional employees who may work remotely, hybrid, or travel regularly for business.

Work is performed in offices, warehouses, distribution areas, configuration center workspaces, service workshop areas, customer sites, field locations, and other Epiroc or supplier/customer facilities. The role may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, forklifts, mobile equipment, material handling equipment, tools, attachments, industrial equipment, oils, grease, solvents or cleaners, fumes or airborne particles, noise, outdoor weather conditions, and active operational areas.

The employee may be required to walk through warehouse, workshop, and operational areas; stand for extended periods; climb stairs; navigate uneven surfaces; inspect work areas; participate in audits, inspections, or investigations; and wear required PPE. PPE may include safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, hard hat, high-visibility apparel, or other equipment based on the work area or task. Responsibilities:
Program Leadership, Compliance & Risk Management
  • Lead programs and initiatives, ensuring alignment with legal, regulatory, customer, site-specific, Epiroc, divisional, and The Epiroc Way requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain programs, processes, and procedures tailored to the specific work environment.
  • Maintain working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, MSHA, workers’ compensation, ISO, and other regulatory or management system requirements; provide practical guidance to managers and employees.
  • Coordinate with local, regional, and divisional resources to support employees and business activities outside the U.S.
  • Maintain the compliance calendar, including audits, inspections, training, reporting, renewals, permits, and regulatory deadlines.
  • Support Epiroc Loss Prevention Standards, customer requirements, internal assessments, and risk reviews.
  • Promote a Safety First mindset and stop work or elevate concerns when unsafe conditions, environmental risks, quality concerns, or violations are identified.
Safety, Health & Environmental Management
  • Partner with leadership and managers to identify, assess, and reduce safety, health, and environmental risks across office, warehouse, configuration, distribution, service workshop, remote, and field-based work environments.
  • Conduct inspections, risk assessments, job hazard analyses, incident reviews, root cause analysis, and corrective action follow-up to prevent recurrence.
  • Support safe work practices for forklift operation, material handling, loading and unloading, product configuration, service workshop activity, repair work, tools, attachments, equipment handling, and other industrial activities.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for work-related injury and illness reporting, workers’ compensation coordination, return-to-work planning, restrictions review, and employee/manager guidance.
  • Ensure work-related injuries, illnesses, near misses, and corrective actions are reported, recorded, and maintained in Epiroc systems in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Support emergency preparedness, PPE requirements, contractor/vendor/visitor safety, hazard identification, incident prevention, and employee involvement in continuous improvement.
  • Monitor environmental requirements related to waste management, recycling, spill prevention, chemical handling, permits, air/water considerations, and other environmental programs.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce environmental impact, control costs, reduce waste, and improve sustainability performance.
Management System, Audits & Reporting
  • Serve as the Local Site Admin for the CSC NASA Management System (IMS), supporting document control, managing access, and coordinating with system support resources.
  • Maintain the IMS, including controlled documents, document ownership, approval workflows, version control, review cycles, publishing, archiving, and site organization.
  • Partner with document owners, function owners, process owners, and leadership to ensure policies, procedures, work instructions, forms, templates, checklists, and controlled documents are current, accessible, and approved.
  • Support quality management processes with a focus on system effectiveness, audit readiness, process compliance, documentation, corrective action, and continuous improvement.
  • Support progression toward ISO-aligned management systems, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, based on business needs and future certification goals.
  • Conduct or support internal audits, Management System audits, compliance reviews, customer audits, regulatory inspections, Epiroc assessments, and management reviews.
  • Complete or coordinate reporting in Epiroc systems, including injury and illness reporting, GPS or other reporting tools, corrective action tracking, objectives, KPIs, risks, trends, and improvement plans.
  • Maintain contractor management or customer compliance databases, such as Avetta, ISNetworld, Browz, or similar systems.
Training, Communication & Cross-Functional Support
  • Develop, coordinate, and facilitate onboarding, training, toolbox talks, safety alerts, process reminders, and other communication materials.
  • Deliver or support training on safety, environmental compliance, quality systems, Management System requirements, ISO-aligned practices, forklift/material handling safety, hazard communication, incident reporting, injury and illness reporting, workers’ compensation, emergency preparedness, PPE, and other required topics.
  • Coach managers and employees on expectations, compliance requirements, injury and illness reporting, workers’ compensation processes, corrective actions, and risk reduction.
  • Work closely with leadership, site leaders, managers, HR, Supply Chain, Customer Care, Sales, Service, Facilities, Distribution, Configuration Center, service workshop, and other functional teams to support safe, compliant, and effective operations.
  • Align with divisional direction to support consistent practices, shared learning, cross-functional coordination, and improved handoffs across suppliers, operations, distribution, customer centers, and customers.
  • Represent the Customer Center in related discussions with Epiroc teams, Product Companies, customer centers, regulatory bodies, customers, suppliers, and contractors.
Knowledge/Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Engineering, Quality, Operations, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in safety, health, environmental, quality, compliance, loss control, operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience supporting industrial, warehouse, distribution, service, manufacturing, equipment, construction, mining, or customer center operations preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, MSHA, workers’ compensation, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and other regulatory or management system requirements preferred.
  • Experience with injury and illness reporting, workers’ compensation coordination, return-to-work processes, audits, corrective actions, document control, and compliance follow-up preferred.
  • Experience with Integrated Management Systems, SharePoint Online or similar platforms, audit tools, learning management systems, contractor databases, ERP systems, or reporting tools preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to interpret requirements and translate them into practical processes, training, and guidance for managers and employees.
  • Strong communication, organization, collaboration, change leadership, and influencing skills, with the ability to build relationships across functions and locations.
  • Professional safety or quality certifications, such as CSM, ASP, CSP, CHMM, Six Sigma, Lean, ISO Lead Auditor, or related certifications, are a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license required; ability to travel up to 20-40% based on business needs.
