Job summary

The Animal Care Center of NYC is seeking a veterinary support professional to assist the medical team in caring for shelter animals. This role includes assisting LVTs and veterinarians, documenting medical findings, administering medications, bathing and grooming, and providing direct assistance to the veterinary team.

This position requires a high school diploma or GED, at least 12 months' experience with animals in a shelter or clinical setting, willingness to pursue euthanasia technician

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 12 months experience working with animals in a veterinary or shelter setting.
• Willing to apply for certification as a euthanasia technician.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs and stand for prolonged periods.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinary team with basic care and screening examinations.
• Document medical findings and administer medications as directed.
• Support data entry and photo documentation in medical records.
• Assist in surgeries and monitor vitals as directed.
• Perform basic pharmacology knowledge for med administration.
• Transfer animals between intake and housing areas.
