We are looking for a dedicated Shelter Veterinarian to join our team and play a key role in providing high-quality care to homeless animals in need.
We are a progressive, open-admission shelter with an annual intake of approximately 3,500 animals (including dogs, cats, rabbits, rodents, reptiles, birds, farm animals, and wildlife) and a 93% live release rate. Our 19,000-square-foot shelter facility boasts a large multi-room veterinary suite with new equipment and a well-stocked pharmacy. Compassionate care of our animals is our top priority, and we do our best to provide the resources needed to be successful.
Responsibilities include diagnosing and treating animals, stabilizing ill and injured animals, overseeing day to day herd health, and overseeing our spay/neuter surgery suite and/or performing spay/neuter surgeries for shelter pets. The veterinary department, when fully staffed, includes five full-time vet techs. Knowledge of shelter medicine protocols, particularly high-quality high-volume spay/neuter, is strongly preferred. Humane Alliance training is a huge plus! Must be licensed to practice in Maryland or willing to become licensed in the state. Must possess or be willing to obtain a DEA license and MD CDS license (this is a reimbursable expense).
Be a part of our passionate team working hard to improve the lives of animals in our community! The compensation is $130,000.00 – $160,000.00 per year.
