Job summary

The City of Aurora is hiring a Veterinary Technician to join the Housing and Community Development Services team. The incumbent will evaluate animals, assist with veterinary procedures, manage medical records, and ensure compliance with SOPs in a busy shelter environment.

Preferred candidates hold an Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology and veterinary technician credentials. The role requires precise record-keeping, strong animal handling skills, and collaboration with staff and foster

Qualifications

• Associates degree in veterinary technology required or equivalent.
• Credentialed veterinary technician (RVT/LVT/CVT) in good standing with CACVT/DORA.
• Colorado driver’s license with good record.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate animals for age, gender, health, and spay/neuter status.
• Administer medications and vaccines per veterinarian instructions.
• Record medical details and manage controlled substances in the system.
• Assist with anesthesia, radiographs, and post-operative recovery.
• Train staff and volunteers; supervise veterinary technician students.
