Job summary

The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a Veterinary Technician II for the South Mountain Shelter to join our veterinary team. This full-time role runs Thursday through Sunday from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM and involves assisting veterinarians with medical treatments, surgeries, diagnostics, radiology, dentistry, and lab procedures while caring for animals.

You will perform exams, administer vaccines, maintain medical records, follow Fear Free handling, mentor junior staff, and support euthanasia

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; veterinary tech program preferred.
• Experience assisting veterinarians with procedures, vaccines, and diagnostics.
• Knowledge of radiology, dentistry, laboratory testing, and medical record keeping.
• Strong communication, attention to detail, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work with Fear Free handling techniques and animal welfare priorities.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with medical treatments, surgeries, diagnostics, radiology, dentistry, and lab procedures.
• Independently evaluate animals to aid adoptability and care plans.
• Administer treatments and vaccines; perform physical exams and tests.
• Maintain accurate medical records and prepare laboratory samples.
• Support euthanasia procedures when necessary and mentor junior staff.
• Promote a safe, compassionate environment for animals and clients.
