Job summary

Samaritan's Purse is seeking a Shelter Program Manager for its Transitional Shelter team in Venezuela. The role involves planning, directing, and overseeing the shelter program within budget and deadlines, and coordinating with internal teams and external partners.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree, disaster response experience, and international construction management experience is preferred. Travel and field supervision are expected as part of program implementation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent; two (2) or more years related experience and/or training.
  • Experience with international construction management is preferred.
  • Previous disaster response experience is required.
  • Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and oversee the shelter program within budget and project deadlines; ensure program goals are met through planning, staffing, and implementation.
  • Recruit, supervise, train, and appraise program staff; organize, direct, and manage their work.
  • Ensure program activities comply with Samaritan's Purse policies, standards, and regulations.
  • Manage budget within approved spending levels and ensure timely financial reports to management.
  • Submit timely, accurate program reports meeting standards and requirements.
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders (government, humanitarian actors, communities, contractors) and internal leads for effective implementation.
  • Make regular visits to project field sites and address challenges; explore future program possibilities.

We are seeking a Shelter Program Manager to join our Transitional Shelter team in Venezuela. Through humanitarian work, the goal and purpose of Samaritan's Purse are to help people in Jesus' name and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

In the role of Shelter Program Manager,you will have the opportunity to:

Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.

Plan, direct, and oversee the shelter program within budget and project deadlines, ensuring that all program goals are met through proper planning, staffing, and implementation.

Recruit, supervise, train, and appraise performance for program staff. Organize, direct, and manage their work.

Ensure program activities comply with Samaritan's Purse policies, standards, and regulations.

Manage budget within approved spending levels and ensure accurate and timely financial reports to management.

Submit timely, accurate, and professional program reports that meet Samaritan's Purse standards and requirements.

Coordinate with relevant external stakeholders, including government authorities, other humanitarian actors, community representatives, beneficiaries, contractors, and Samaritan's Purse partners to ensure proper understanding and coordination of project objectives and achievements.

Coordinate with internal sectoral leads and supporting departments for effective program implementation including WASH, protection, finance, procurement, logistics, security, Human Resources, and International Headquarters support and regional teams.

Make regular visits to project field sites, providing staff support, addressing programmatic challenges, and exploring future program possibilities.

What are the qualifications?

As a qualified candidate, you will have the following skills and experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) or equivalent; two (2) or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience with international construction management is preferred.

Previous disaster response experience is required.

Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies are strongly preferred.
