Job summary

City Care INC seeks a caring, nonjudgmental team member for the Pet Kennel Advocate role. You will build trusting relationships with shelter guests and their pets, coordinate care, maintain kennel areas, and support shelter operations with compassion and problem-solving.

The position focuses on pet care within a complex intersection of housing, health, and animal welfare, and requires a high school diploma, strong communication, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Trauma-informed approach when supporting guests and their pets.
• Strong communication with guests, staff and partners.
• Ability to multitask in a busy shelter environment.

Responsibilities

• Build trusting relationships with shelter guests and their pets.
• Coordinate pet care needs, intake information, and supplies.
• Oversee kennel cleaning, safety, and daily operations.
• Track pet-related records and resources; report issues promptly.
• Coordinate with vets and community partners for pet care services.
• Assist with grooming and basic pet care as needed.
• Support staff with pet policy adherence and programming.
