Job summary

CCHS in Champaign, IL is seeking a full-time Medical Care staff member to examine and monitor shelter animals, administer treatments, and perform basic diagnostic tasks including fecal analyses and cytology.

Weekend, some evenings, and holiday shifts are required. Starting pay is $16.50/hour, with benefits including health insurance, PTO, sick leave, holidays, Simple IRA, and EAP. Communication with the Shelter Veterinarian and staff is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience handling dogs and cats in a veterinary setting.
• Experience with other small animals is a plus but not required.
• Experience with animal restraint is a plus but not required.
• Good communication skills in person and in writing.
• Accurate data entry and basic computer skills required.
• Reliability, punctuality and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Examination and monitoring of animals for health and wellness.
• Administering treatments and medications to shelter animals.
• Communicating about animal health with staff and volunteers.
