Job summary

The City of Rancho Cucamonga Animal Services Department is seeking an Animal Caretaker to help care for domestic, exotic, and wildlife in a busy shelter. You will maintain clean housing areas, assist with meet-and-greet events, and support enrichment and behavior programs while ensuring high-quality customer service.

Responsibilities include processing licenses, helping with adoptions, and communicating animal needs to adopters. Weekend/evening shifts and on-call work are required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Six months of recent experience with domestic animals desirable.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and disinfecting cages and interacting with a variety of animals including domestic, exotic, and wildlife.
• General housekeeping; washing dishes and laundry; maintaining a clean and orderly work environment; keeping facilities and equipment in good working order.
• Assisting public with general inquiries and finding lost and found pets.
• Answering phone calls and assisting administrative staff with records, cashier services and processing licenses.
• The meet and greet process and helping customers select and adopt pets.
• Communicating medical and behavior needs of specific animals to potential adopters.
• Safely handling a variety of breeds and species with varying temperaments.
• Participating in enrichment and socialization programs.
• Interacting with volunteers.
• Maintaining animal and supply inventory.
• Assisting with euthanasia.
