Job summary

The Puyallup Tribe of Indians seeks a Biologist in the Shellfish Department to interpret biological information and perform field work as a co-manager with other governments on resource management.

The role involves stock assessments, regulatory development, and reporting while ensuring shellfish sanitation in line with FDA rules. Requires a BS in biology and shellfish experience; on-site work with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field is required.
• Two years of shellfish resource assessment/management experience preferred.
• Experience with Word/Excel for data tracking and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate shellfish resource management via stock assessments.
• Provide technical representation in inter-governmental negotiations.
• Develop codes/regulations with commissions and attorneys to manage shellfish resources.
• Prepare data summaries and assess exploitation rates from stock data.
• Administer shellfish sanitation compliance with FDA rules.
