Job summary

Sonaca North America is seeking a Sheet Metal Production Supervisor to oversee daily sheet metal fabrication with emphasis on safety, quality, and throughput. This role reports to the Production Manager and drives continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of supervisory experience in aerospace sheet metal fabrication, knowledge of lean manufacturing, and proficiency with blueprints and MS Office.

POSITION SUMMARY

We are currently seeking a Sheet Metal Production Supervisor. This position is directly responsible for all aspects of managing is responsible for directing and coordinating daily sheet metal fabrication activities with a specific focus on safety, quality, and throughput reporting to the Production Manager. Oversee all day to day activities in the processing department. Creates and promotes a performance based culture through the use of departmental metrics and daily production meetings. Leadership and participation in continuous improvement initiatives, specification review and LEAN projects.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Reviews production orders and schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
  • Oversees the development and monitors work teams to ensure the efficient and effective accomplishment of the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Prepares production schedules and coordinates daily activities to ensure production and quality of products meet specifications and customer requirements.
  • Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational issues to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Reviews production performance data to measure efficiency and goal achievement and to identify opportunities for cost reduction and/or improvement.
  • Develops and/or revises standard operational and working practices to ensure compliance with standard procedures.
  • Understands and can perform the following fabrication processes including turret punching, forming, bending, drilling, deburr, and line up.
  • Assists employees in career progression and learning through effective communications, coaching, training and development and providing experiential opportunities.
  • Responsible for establishing, implementing, and documenting a training program for all manufacturing personnel.
  • Encourages subordinates to strive for operational excellence by continually challenging old methods or ways of thinking and taking responsible risks to maximize results; serves as a role model in innovative thinking and process improvement.
  • Formulates performance standards in relation to Sonaca North America behaviors; provides ongoing feedback; conducts evaluations; and initiates personnel actions for subordinates.
  • Participates in the Review of Customer Specifications and the creation of Specification Specific Process Codes for assigned manufacturing area.
  • Participates in and drives Continuous Improvement projects within assigned manufacturing area and measures them for effectiveness.
  • Ensure all departmental employees know and follow the appropriate Quality Assurance Procedures (QAPs).
  • Conduct periodic “self-audits” of the department to track compliance.
  • Notify the Quality Department if changes in the QAPs are needed, and work with them to develop and implement revised or new procedures.
  • Participates in and drives the Corrective Action Process in the Processing departments and assists other departments as required.
  • Ensures manufacturing controls are in place for compliance to all regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with the corporate policies, initiatives and EH&S requirements.
  • Other duties assigned by management.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES
  • 5 +years supervisory experience in management preferably in the area of Assembly sheet metal fabrication.
  • Must possess the necessary leadership traits to assure the effective, consistent performance of departmental activities.
  • Ability to supervisor and delegate work / tasks to direct reports.
  • Background in manufacturing environment required.
  • Aerospace industry knowledge required.
  • Ability to apply lean tools and principles.
  • Must be able to use a personal computer with Microsoft Office software systems such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Exercises good judgment and demonstrates good decision making skills.
  • Good team building, team leader, and team member skills.
  • Must be able to learn and understand equipment, as well as setup and run the equipment.
  • Must be able to read basic blue prints and understand specifications that parts are made to, and identify imperfections in parts.
  • Must be able to read and understand work orders, follow written and verbal instructions and procedures, and to use tools and methods to ensure quality.

Pay Range- $80,000 - $95,000
