Job summary

TP Mechanical Contractors in Columbus, OH seeks an experienced estimator to lead the estimating team for the region. Responsibilities include takeoffs, pricing, and coordinating with subcontractors, designers, owners, and job-site personnel to ensure accurate bids and timely turnover.

The role requires strong reading of blueprints, knowledge of plumbing and piping installation, Excel proficiency, and proven communication skills.

Qualifications

• 5 years experience in commercial sheet metal estimating, or completion of an approved apprenticeship program and 3 years' experience as a Journeyman.
• 3-5 years prior estimating experience.
• Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Job takeoffs and pricing.
• Obtain quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Stay current with all estimating software and attend training as needed and/or required.
• Work with VP of Estimating as needed on estimating database development and maintenance.
• Work with VP of Estimating to develop estimating spreadsheets.
• Work with VP of Estimating to ensure smooth and timely project turnover from estimating to project management.
• Ability to work with vendors and subcontractors to secure scopes and final pricing including but not limited to calling and or meeting with them to discuss their scope of work.
• Ability to clearly write scope letter.
• Ability to lead and finalize job estimates.
• All other duties as assigned.

Job description

Position Summary: Responsible for estimation and takeoffs of sheet metal jobs. The individual should have a good understanding of all aspects of mechanical contracting and be able to communicate effectively with contractors, designers, owners and job-site personnel, representing TP Mechanical Contractors in a professional manner. Overall responsibility will be to manage the estimating team for the region and to assist in other regions when requested.

Physical Requirements
