Description

Sheetfed First Press Operators are responsible for operating a printing press, leading crew members, and ensuring each job meets customer specifications and deadlines. They maintain quality control, reduce waste and press downtime, and follow departmental procedures to process customer jobs efficiently and to standard.

• Proficient in all aspects of six color plus coater press, including make-ready, running, and maintaining color quality.
• Read and understand job tickets, layout sheets, artwork, and other specifications prior to starting a job.
• Assist with wash-up and cleaning procedures.
• Hang plates, install blankets and packing, fill ink fountains, and mix fountain solutions at correct pH; assist with setup of coating or inline finishing equipment.
• Record ink usage for each job.
• Check plates for imperfections and press sheets for marks and abrasions.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company safety regulations.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on equipment and maintain a list of issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• 1-3+ years of experience as a multicolor web press operator preferred
• Ability to read and interpret work instructions and business memos
