The role suits someone with mechanical aptitude who enjoys hands-on fabrication and producing accurately crafted components from drawings and measurements. Work hours include a morning shift in a manufacturing setting.

Matern Staffing is hiring a Sheet Metal Worker for a global manufacturer of automation systems for the plastics industry in Fredericksburg, VA. In this hands-on fabrication role, you'll work from blueprints and design plans to cut, shape, drill, bend, and form sheet metal parts to specification.

This role is well suited for someone with mechanical aptitude who enjoys working with fabrication equipment and producing parts accurately from drawings and measurements.

• $19/hr

Schedule:

• Monday-Thursday, 6am-3pm
• Friday, 6am-10am

What You'll Do:

• Read blueprints and design plans to determine part dimensions and fabrication requirements
• Measure and mark metal using reference lines and specifications from drawings
• Cut sheet metal using equipment such as shears, lasers, and saws
• Bend, drill, cut, and roll metal parts according to print
• Operate fabrication equipment such as rollers, saws, and drill presses
• Check measurements and angles throughout the fabrication process
• Handle materials and perform hands-on work in a manufacturing environment

What You'll Need:

• High school diploma
• 1-2 years of on-the-job training or related sheet metal/fabrication experience
• Ability to read and work from blueprints or design plans
• Basic math skills, including the ability to calculate angles and measurements
• Mechanical aptitude and experience operating fabrication equipment such as rollers, saws, and drill presses
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy materials
