Position Summary
The Sheet Metal Silk Screening Apprentice assists in the preparation, setup, and operation of silk screening equipment used to apply graphics, labels, markings, and finishes to sheet metal products. This entry-level position provides hands-on training in screen printing techniques, quality control, production processes, and workplace safety while developing the skills needed to become a skilled Silk Screening Technician.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the setup and operation of silk screening equipment for sheet metal products.
- Prepare and clean screens, inks, and printing materials.
- Learn proper alignment, registration, and printing techniques to ensure accurate image placement.
- Inspect finished parts for quality, color consistency, print clarity, and adherence to specifications.
- Support sheet metal handling, preparation, and finishing operations.
- Mix inks and coatings according to established procedures.
- Clean and maintain silk screening equipment, workstations, and production areas.
- Follow production schedules and work instructions to meet customer deadlines.
- Identify and report quality issues, equipment problems, or process deviations.
- Comply with company safety policies, environmental requirements, and operating procedures.
- Maintain accurate production and quality documentation.
- Participate in continuous improvement and training activities.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read basic work instructions and drawings.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in manufacturing, printing, screen printing, or sheet metal fabrication.

- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Frequent reaching, bending, and handling of materials.
