Job summary

Baker Roofing Company is seeking a Sheet Metal Roofer (Repair) to repair, remove, and install sheet metal roofing systems across multiple sites. You will assist the Foreman/Construction Manager, mentor Helpers, and operate a company vehicle to daily job sites while coordinating with TPO, PVC, and EPDM systems as needed.

Qualified candidates have 1-5 years of sheet metal roofing experience, a high school diploma or GED, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Education: High School/GED preferred but not required.
• Experience: 1-5 years of hands-on sheet metal roofing.
• Driver’s License: Required.

Responsibilities

• Repair and install sheet metal roofing components according to blueprints, specifications, manufacturer details, and applicable codes.
• Assist the Foreman/Construction Manager and mentor Helpers on the job.
• Operate a company vehicle to multiple job sites each day.
• Work with other commercial roofing systems (TPO, PVC, EPDM, etc.) as needed.
• Maintain job-site safety and cleanliness; follow safety policies at all times.
• Prepare and submit daily job reports and timesheets as directed.

Summary

The Sheet Metal Roofer will repair, remove, and install sheet metal roofing systems and related materials. They will assist the Forman/Construction Manager, mentor Helpers on the job, and operate a company vehicle to multiple jobs sites each day. Working with other commercial roofing systems (TPO, PVC, EPDM, etc.) as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High School/GEDpreferred butnotrequired.
• Experience: 1-5 years of hands-on sheet metal roofing required.
• Driver’s License: Required

Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in repairing and installing sheet metal roofing systems.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and the ability to implement a jobsite safety plan, including toolbox talks and safety huddles.
• Attention to detail and quality craftsmanship.
• Ability to read shop drawings, layout roofs and walls, and reproduce manufacturing details.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing jobsite conditions and priorities.

What you'll do:

• Repair and install sheet metal roofing components according to blueprints, specifications, manufacturer details, and applicable codes.
• Measure, cut, bend, and assemble sheet metal materials.
• Install flashing, metal panels, trim, coping, gutters, downspouts, and other roofing components.
• Adhere to company safety policies and procedures at all times.
• Maintain job site cleanliness and daily housekeeping.
• Monitor and maintain on-site equipment and notify the tool room or garage of any broken or defective equipment before returning it.
• Install vapor barriers and insulation layers, sealing seams; apply adhesives, caulking, sealants, and coatings.
• Cover exposed nail heads with roofing cement or caulking to prevent leaks and rust.
• Repair cracks, defects, or damage using appropriate materials and techniques.
• Operate vehicles, mechanized devices, or equipment as needed.
• Prepare and submit daily job reports, field progress updates, technical questions, and timesheets as directed by the manager.

Physical Demands

• Requires the ability to lift and carry items weighing 50 pounds.
• Requires the ability to stand, walk, and balance for long periods of time.
• Requires use of abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without giving out or fatiguing.
• Requires seeing details at close range.
• Requires repetitive movement, bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, stooping, or crawling.

Work Environment

• Working in temperatures above 90°F or below 32°F.
• Exposure to loud, distracting, or uncomfortable noise levels.
• Exposure to contaminants, hazardous materials, and potentially hazardous equipment.
• Working at heights and in other potentially dangerous conditions.
• Exposure to minor injuries such as burns, cuts, bites, or stings.
• Performing work where errors may have significant consequences.
• Strict adherence to all safety policies, procedures, and regulations is required.
