Qualifications

• 5+ years of fabrication programming and manufacturing automation experience.
• Hands-on experience programming Trumpf laser systems and related equipment.

Sheet Metal Programmer – Laser, Press Brake & Robotic Welding

Position Overview

Summit Staffing is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Programmer – Laser, Press Brake & Robotic Welding for a highly automated manufacturing operation in Roanoke, Texas. This is a hands-on technical programming position responsible for supporting and optimizing advanced sheet metal fabrication, robotic welding, weld fixture, and automated tube-bending processes. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience programming Amada and Trumpf laser systems, SafanDarley and Trumpf press brakes, and Yaskawa Motoman robotic welding systems. This individual will work closely with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Operations to support new product launches, improve manufacturing processes, reduce scrap and cycle times, and increase equipment productivity.

Note:

This is not a machine operator position. We are seeking an experienced manufacturing professional with hands-on programming expertise who can take fabrication and robotic welding processes from engineering design through production.

Key Responsibilities:

Laser Programming & Nesting

• Create and optimize CNC programs for Amada and Trumpf laser cutting systems.
• Develop efficient nesting strategies to maximize material utilization.
• Generate manufacturing programs from engineering drawings and 3D CAD models.
• Optimize cutting processes to reduce scrap and improve productivity.
• Troubleshoot laser programming and production issues.
• Utilize CAD/CAM and nesting software to support production requirements.

Press Brake Programming

• Program and optimize SafanDarley and Trumpf press brakes.
• Develop bending sequences and tooling strategies.
• Review new products for manufacturability.
• Support press brake setup reduction and process improvements.
• Troubleshoot forming and programming issues.

Robotic Welding Programming

• Program, teach, and optimize Yaskawa Motoman robotic welding cells.
• Develop production-ready welding programs utilizing YRC1000 controllers.
• Establish and maintain TCPs, user frames, tool frames, and work coordinates.
• Configure welding schedules and parameters.
• Optimize robotic cycle times while maintaining weld quality and repeatability.
• Troubleshoot robotic welding issues and production downtime.
• Support commissioning and implementation of new robotic welding applications.

Weld Fixture Development

• Design, review, modify, and improve weld fixtures and production tooling.
• Develop effective locating and clamping strategies.
• Ensure fixture repeatability for robotic welding applications.
• Improve fixture ergonomics, accessibility, and maintainability.

Automated Tube Bending

• Support and optimize a fully automated Transfluid tube-bending cell.
• Support integrated KUKA robotic systems.
• Troubleshoot robotic and automation issues.
• Improve equipment uptime, throughput, and productivity.
• Support fabrication of complex tubing assemblies.
• Lead manufacturing process-improvement initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve quality, throughput, cycle time, and equipment utilization.
• Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
• Drive automation and productivity improvements throughout manufacturing operations.
• Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Operations teams.

Required Qualifications

• Experience with SigmaNEST and/or SigmaBEND.
• Experience with KUKA robotic systems.
• Experience with automated tube-bending equipment.
• Offline robotic programming and simulation experience.
• Experience within sheet metal fabrication, automotive, heavy equipment, fuel systems, or similar manufacturing environments.
• Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement experience.
• Project management or new-product-launch experience.
