Functional Duties And Responsibilities

• Cleans corrosion and treats metal surfaces per the manufacturer’s instructions and specifications.
• Performs basic sheet metal repairs and replacement of structural parts using appropriate skills.
• Uses measuring instruments such as rulers, grip gauges, dial calipers, micrometers, and 6T gauges.
• Utilizes hand and powered tools like hammers, chisels, hand snips, saws, drill presses, shear and brake tools to cut and form.
• Assembles parts by bolting, screwing, and riveting.
• Identifies fasteners using symbols.
• Removes and installs minor aircraft components such as fairings, cargo liners, floors, and access panels.
• Performs repairs on primary and secondary aircraft structures, fabricates replacement panels, and performs cold working and bushings installation.
• Performs sealing procedures and understands different fit and hole sizes.
• Identifies pressurized areas and manages access for inspections.
• Applies corrosion preventatives and understands aircraft zones, ATA codes, and industry standards.
• Reads maintenance manuals, identifies aircraft components, and performs repairs accordingly.
• Maintains records such as work orders, logs, and material records.
• Signs off maintenance paperwork as ‘Qualified Mechanic’ after meeting all requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Reporting and Supervision

Reports to: Project Manager and Lead S/M Mechanic

Supervises: None

Human Interaction/Communication

Interacts with supervisors, managers, lead workers, employees, and contractors.

Position Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years relevant experience with narrow and wide body airframes.
• High School Diploma or GED required; A&P certificate preferred.
• Works safely, follows safety rules, and reports unsafe conditions.

Performance Measurement

Based on success in performing essential functions, with annual evaluations.
