Job description

Sheet Metal Machinist and Straighter, 1st and 2nd Shift

JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a Sheet Metal Mechanic with the ability to plan, layout, and fabricate sheet metal parts and products. The successful candidate will also be required to perform work quality checks.

LOCATION: Columbia, CT

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Inspect product using basic measuring equipment.
  2. Work independently interpreting blueprints and engineering specifications.
  3. Trim, file, grind, deburr, and smooth surfaces.
  4. Lay out and mark dimensions and reference lines on material to develop and trace patterns of products or parts using templates.
  5. Set up and operate fabrication machines such as shears, presses, and forming rolls to cut, bend, block, and form or straighten material.
  6. Inspect the work area and machines that were used during the day prior to leaving at the end of each shift.
  7. Follow all company safety protocol.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualified candidate must demonstrate training ability and be able to support internal customer needs. The individual must be able to accurately read blueprints and be able to lift a maximum of 25 pounds. They must be committed to quality, safety, and communication and be a team player. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma/GED required. Exposure to the Aerospace industry a plus. Must possess strong basic math skills.
