Job summary

Thomasmechanical is seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Mechanic with hands-on experience to fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and structures. The ideal candidate will have five years of experience and the ability to read blueprints and technical drawings to ensure precise workmanship.

The role involves collaborating with engineers and project teams, following OSHA safety standards, and contributing to quality control.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Sheet Metal Mechanic or in a similar trade.
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
  • Proficient in sheet metal fabrication, layout, and installation
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights, and stand for extended periods.
  • Licenses/Certifications: OSHA safety training, welding certifications, or HVAC credentials a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Fabrication & Assembly: Measure, cut, shape, and assemble sheet metal parts and products using hand tools, power tools, and specialized machinery.
  • Installation: Install HVAC duct systems, roofing, siding, or other sheet metal components in accordance with project specifications and safety standards.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to ensure precise fabrication and installation.
  • Quality Control: Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with specifications, tolerances, and company quality standards.
  • Welding & Joining: Perform MIG/TIG welding, riveting, soldering, and other metal-joining processes as needed.
  • Maintenance & Repair: Diagnose issues, repair damaged components, and perform preventive maintenance on sheet metal systems.
  • Safety & Compliance: Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures; maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other trades to complete projects efficiently and accurately.
