Job summary

Cam-Ful Industries is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Foreman to lead commercial and industrial HVAC sheet metal projects in the field. You will supervise crews, plan daily work, read plans, and ensure ductwork installations meet project schedules and safety standards.

Ideal candidates bring hands-on leadership with five+ years of commercial/industrial ductwork experience, ability to coordinate with trades, and a focus on safety, quality workmanship, and professionalism on busy job sites.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of commercial or industrial sheet metal/HVAC installation experience.
  • Previous experience leading or supervising a sheet metal crew.
  • Strong knowledge of rectangular, spiral, round, and specialty ductwork systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical plans, shop drawings, specifications, and duct layouts.
  • Working knowledge of SMACNA installation standards and applicable mechanical codes.
  • Experience with duct layout, field measurements, hangers, supports, offsets, transitions, and equipment connections.
  • Ability to plan work, manage labor, and maintain project productivity.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with project managers, superintendents, customers, and other trades.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass all company and project-specific screening requirements.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or occasional night shifts when required by project schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise sheet metal mechanics, apprentices, and helpers on commercial and industrial job sites.
  • Plan daily work assignments and communicate production goals to the crew.
  • Coordinate manpower, tools, equipment, materials, and deliveries.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, specifications, shop drawings, and duct layouts.
  • Lay out, assemble, and install rectangular, round, spiral, and specialty ductwork.
  • Oversee the installation of VAV boxes, dampers, louvers, rooftop units, exhaust systems, hangers, supports, and related HVAC components.
  • Verify duct elevations, dimensions, routing, and equipment connections before installation.
  • Ensure installations comply with project specifications, applicable codes, SMACNA standards, and company quality requirements.
  • Track daily progress, labor hours, material usage, and job-site conditions.
  • Identify potential scheduling, coordination, or installation issues and communicate them promptly to the Superintendent or Project Manager.
  • Coordinate field activities with other trades, general contractors, inspectors, vendors, and project leadership.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and enforce company and job-site safety policies.
  • Inspect completed work and correct deficiencies before requesting formal inspection.
  • Maintain an organized, productive, and professional job site.
  • Train and mentor less-experienced employees in proper installation methods, safety practices, and tool usage.
  • Assist with material takeoffs, field measurements, change-order documentation, and project closeout activities.
  • Protect company tools, equipment, materials, and customer property.
  • Perform hands-on sheet metal installation when required to keep the project on schedule.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

  • Experience working on large‑scale commercial, healthcare, manufacturing, institutional, or industrial projects.
  • Experience tracking labor productivity, material needs, and project documentation.
  • Knowledge of fire‑smoke dampers, insulation requirements, duct pressure classifications, and testing procedures.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work from scaffolding, aerial lifts, and elevated surfaces.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, squat, reach, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in tight spaces, mechanical rooms, and other construction environments.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and temperature conditions.
  • Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment.
