Job summary

J.F. Sobieski Mechanical Contractors, Inc. is seeking a Sheet Metal Foreman to lead fabrication and installation teams on construction sites and facilities in the Newark, DE area.

You will supervise ductwork, interpret blueprints, enforce safety, and coordinate with project managers to keep projects on time and within budget. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years in sheet metal, 2 in a supervisory role, strong HVAC knowledge, blueprint reading skills, OSHA familiarity, and a valid driver’s

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years sheet metal experience, with 2+ years in supervision.
• Knowledge of HVAC, fabrication techniques, and installation practices.
• Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and construction site safety protocols.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Supervise sheet metal workers in fabrication, assembly, and installation of ductwork and HVAC components.
• Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan work and ensure accurate execution.
• Monitor progress, manage schedules, and coordinate with other trades to meet deadlines.
• Enforce safety protocols and ensure OSHA compliance and safety policies.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate team members to improve skills and productivity.
• Conduct quality inspections and troubleshoot issues to maintain high standards.
• Maintain inventory of materials and tools, and coordinate procurement as needed.
• Prepare reports on project status, labor hours, and material usage.

About the Role:

The Sheet Metal Foreman plays a critical leadership role in overseeing and coordinating all sheet metal fabrication and installation activities on construction sites or in manufacturing facilities. This position ensures that projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget while maintaining the highest quality standards. The Foreman leads a team of sheet metal workers, providing guidance, training, and support to optimize productivity and workmanship. They collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other trades to interpret blueprints, resolve technical issues, and implement efficient workflows. Ultimately, the Sheet Metal Foreman is responsible for driving operational excellence and fostering a safe, compliant, and motivated work environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in sheet metal work, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or foreman role.
• Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques, HVAC systems, and installation practices.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and construction site safety protocols.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
