Job summary

Thermal Corporation in Rankin, Texas is seeking a Sheet Metal Foreman to lead our fabrication department, manage a hands-on team, and ensure on-time production of custom air handling equipment. You will direct CNC laser cutting, press brakes, and turret punches, train operators, verify programs and quality, and collaborate with maintenance, quality, engineering and production leadership to improve flow.

This role requires 5+ years in sheet metal fabrication with at least 2 years in a supervisory

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of sheet metal fabrication experience with 2+ years in a lead role.
• Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC press brakes, fiber laser cutters, and turret punch presses.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints.
• Knowledge of bend deductions, tooling, nesting layouts, and sheet metal fabrication practices.
• Experience with mild steel, galvanized steel, and stainless steel.
• Strong safety knowledge including PPE and lockout/tagout.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day fabrication department operations to meet production schedules.
• Assign work, monitor progress, ensure safety, quality, productivity, and on-time completion.
• Set up and troubleshoot CNC press brakes, fiber lasers, and turret punch equipment.
• Train operators on machine setup, tooling, bend sequencing, nesting, troubleshooting, and equipment care.
• Verify machine programs, tooling, material, and first-piece quality before production runs.
• Read fabrication drawings and nesting layouts.
• Drive improvements in labor efficiency, machine uptime, throughput, scrap reduction.
• Escalate equipment/material/personnel issues promptly.
• Collaborate with Programming, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, and Production leadership.
• Lead start-of-shift meetings and maintain 5S and housekeeping standards.

Thermal Corporation, a division of Nailor Industries, is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Foreman to lead sheet metal fabrication operations at our Rankin, Texas facility. This is a hands–on leadership position supporting the production of custom air handling equipment.

We are looking for someone who knows sheet metal fabrication from the floor up—someone who can lead a team, troubleshoot equipment, improve production flow, and step in when needed to keep the operation moving.

What You’ll Do

As the Sheet Metal Foreman, you will lead the day-to-day operation of our fabrication department, including CNC laser cutting, press brake forming, turret punch operations, and related sheet metal processes.

You will be responsible for:

• Leading and coordinating daily sheet metal fabrication activities to meet production schedules and customer commitments.
• Assigning work, monitoring production progress, and keeping the team focused on safety, quality, productivity, and on–time completion.
• Setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC press brakes, fiber lasers, and turret punch equipment.
• Training and developing operators on machine setup, tooling, bend sequencing, nesting, troubleshooting, and proper equipment care.
• Verifying machine programs, tooling, material, and first–piece quality before production runs.
• Reading and interpreting fabrication drawings, blueprints, bend requirements, and nesting layouts.
• Driving improvements in labor efficiency, machine uptime, throughput, scrap reduction, and overall department performance.
• Identifying and quickly escalating equipment, material, manpower, or quality issues that could impact production.
• Working closely with Programming, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, and Production leadership to resolve problems and improve processes.
• Leading start–of–shift meetings and maintaining strong 5S and housekeeping standards.
• Enforcing PPE, machine guarding, lockout/tagout, and all other plant safety requirements.
• Cross–training employees to create a flexible team capable of supporting changing production demands.
• Supporting overtime and occasional weekend production when required.

What We’re Looking For

Required experience:

• At least 5 years of sheet metal fabrication experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
• Hands–on experience setting up and operating:
  • CNC Press Brakes — Amada, Trumpf, Bystronic, or similar
  • CNC Laser Cutting Systems — fiber laser experience preferred
  • Turret Punch Presses
• Strong ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints.
• Knowledge of bend deductions, tooling, nesting layouts, and sheet metal fabrication practices.
• Experience working with mild steel, galvanized steel, and stainless steel.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing safety practices, including PPE, machine guarding, and lockout/tagout.
• Basic computer skills and experience using production tracking, work order, or timekeeping systems.

Even Better If You Have

• HVAC, air handler, or air distribution manufacturing experience.
• Experience with Amada equipment, controls, or offline programming software.
• Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience, including setup reduction, standard work, visual management, and 5S.
• Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.

Physical & Work Environment

This position works in an active manufacturing environment and requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds throughout the workday. The work environment includes machine noise, metal dust, and varying temperatures. Required PPE must be worn at all times in designated areas.

The position must also be available for overtime and occasional weekend work based on production and customer requirements.
