Job summary

Mission Critical Group (MCG) is seeking a Sheet Metal Fabricator in Abilene, TX to prepare, fabricate, and cut metal for assembly of power packaging units. Daily duties include operating presses, shears, and lathes, and moving materials with a forklift.

You will read blueprints and follow schedules to ensure precise dimensions and safe operations. The role emphasizes reliability, safety, and attention to detail, with opportunities to train in welding techniques as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
  • 1-2 years' experience in manufacturing or construction preferred.
  • 2+ years' experience operating press brakes/shears preferred.
  • Forklift operation experience desired.
  • Experience reading blueprints and measuring precisely.

Responsibilities

  • Lay out and examine metal stock or work pieces to ensure specifications are met.
  • Assemble lifts, position, and remove pieces from machinery.
  • Set up and operate equipment for fabrication of stainless sheet metal products.
  • Install, align, and lock punches, dies, or fixtures in presses using hand tools.
  • Study drawings, blueprints, work orders and schedules to determine materials and tolerances.
  • Clean and lubricate the machines.
  • Cross-train in welding and metalworking techniques where appropriate.

Job Description

SUMMARY: The Sheet Metal Fabricatoris responsible forpreparing, fabricating, and cutting metal products for assembly using a variety of tools and machines, such as presses, shears, saws, and lathes. This position will be working daily on machines that prepare steel metal products for the assembly of our power packaging units, as well as moving equipment and material with theassistanceof a forklift.

Accountabilities
  • Lay-out and examine metal stock or work pieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met.
  • Assemble lifts, positions, and remove work pieces from machinery.
  • Set up andoperatespecialized equipment and tooling for fabrication of stainless sheet metal products.
  • Install, align, and lock/flip specified punches, dies, or other fixtures in rams or bed of brake press, using hand tools such as dial calipers and inspection gauges.
  • Study shop drawings, blueprints, workordersand production schedules todeterminespecifications such as materials to be used,dimensionsand tolerances.
  • Clean and lubricate the machines.
  • Cross-trainin welding and metalworking techniques whenappropriate.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • 1-2years' experience in a manufacturing or construction environment(preferred)
  • 2+ years' experience with operating press brake/shear(preferred)
  • Experience driving andoperateaforklift (desired)
  • Experience using a roll table (a plus)
  • Highlydetailandquality oriented, ensuring correct measurements with each piece.
  • Be reliable, responsible, and highly dependable.
  • Work safely and efficiently while completing tasksin a timely manner.
  • Skilled at mathematics, such as reading and applyinga decimal chartas well as calculating circumference andbendradius.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • An understanding of proper use, cleaning, andlubricating ofmachines and tools.
  • Adhere tosafelyprocedures to perform tasks in an efficient and productive manner.
  • Skilled at managing time independently.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy sheets of metal.
