Job summary

Nations Roof in Rowlett, TX is seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Fabrication Lead to support our commercial roofing operations. This shop-based role covers fabrication, material deliveries, and warehouse upkeep, and does not involve day-to-day supervision of roofing crews.

You will coordinate fabrication of sheet metal components from project drawings, review cut lists, operate shop equipment safely, and maintain accurate materials and inventory.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three years sheet metal fabrication experience.
  • Experience operating sheet metal shop equipment is required.
  • Experience with CAD software is required.
  • Driver's license and clean driving record required.
  • Preferred: experience coordinating shop workflow or training employees.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate sheet metal components according to project drawings and production requirements.
  • Produce coping, fascia, flashing, gutters, downspouts, edge metal, trim, and other components.
  • Operate shop equipment safely (brakes, shears, roll formers).
  • Review drawings, cut lists, and work orders for accuracy.
  • Manage daily shop priorities and fabrication workflow.
  • Inspect finished products for quality and specifications.

Sheet Metal Fabrication Lead / Warehouse Associate

Salary Range: $30.00 To $32.00 Hourly

We are seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Fabrication Lead to support our commercial roofing operations. This is primarily a shop-based fabrication role, with additional responsibility for material deliveries and general warehouse upkeep. This position is not a field installation role and does not provide day-to-day supervision of roofing crews.

Position Summary

The Sheet Metal Fabrication Lead is responsible for coordinating and performing the fabrication of sheet metal components used in commercial roofing projects. This individual will help organize shop workflow, maintain quality standards, and ensure materials are fabricated accurately and available when needed.

The position may also provide technical guidance or product training to field crews when necessary. Additional duties include loading materials, completing local deliveries, maintaining inventory, and helping keep the warehouse and yard safe and organized.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fabricate sheet metal components according to project drawings, measurements, specifications, and production requirements.
  • Produce items such as coping, fascia, flashing, gutters, downspouts, edge metal, trim, and other custom components.
  • Safely operate sheet metal fabrication equipment, including brakes, shears, roll formers, and other applicable shop machinery.
  • Review fabrication drawings, cut lists, measurements, and work orders for accuracy before production.
  • Organize daily shop priorities and help coordinate fabrication workflow based on project schedules and material needs.
  • Inspect completed products to ensure dimensions, materials, finishes, and workmanship meet company and project standards.
  • Identify fabrication concerns, material discrepancies, or design issues and communicate them to the appropriate manager.
  • Help train employees on fabrication methods, equipment operation, product knowledge, and safe work practices.
  • Provide occasional technical guidance to field crews regarding fabricated products and proper application when requested.
  • Track materials and communicate inventory or supply needs to management.
  • Receive, organize, load, and stage materials for upcoming projects.
  • Complete local deliveries and material pickups using a company vehicle.
  • Assist with warehouse and yard organization, cleanliness, and general upkeep.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and report maintenance or repair needs.
  • Follow all OSHA requirements and company safety procedures, including the proper use of PPE.
  • Maintain accurate fabrication, delivery, inventory, and other required records.
  • Support other shop and warehouse responsibilities as operational needs require.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of commercial roofing sheet metal fabrication.
  • Ability to accurately read drawings, measurements, specifications, and fabrication details.
  • Proficiency with sheet metal fabrication tools and equipment.
  • Ability to create or interpret fabrication drawings using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Ability to organize fabrication priorities and manage multiple work requests.
  • Ability to troubleshoot fabrication issues and recommend practical solutions.
  • Ability to train and provide technical direction to employees without serving as their day-to-day supervisor.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn company software.
  • Ability to safely operate a company vehicle and complete local deliveries.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of three years of sheet metal fabrication experience, preferably supporting commercial roofing or construction operations.
  • Experience operating sheet metal shop equipment is required.
  • Experience with CAD software is required.
  • Previous experience coordinating shop workflow or training employees is preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required.
Physical and Scheduling Requirements
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, load, and move sheet metal, tools, and construction materials.
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and operate fabrication equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in warehouse, yard, and construction-related environments with varying temperatures and conditions.
  • Ability to work extended hours or weekends when required by production schedules or operational needs.
