Strong, solid and effective capability in SHE throughout the organization is vital to ensure SHE compliance across the organization and those it touches. This is ensured through global SHE Standards, Systems, Programs and Solutions. We are seeking a Global SHE Capability Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a member of the SHE capability expertise team Zero Harm to Planet covering Environmental compliance, owning standards, systems, programs and solutions in scope, enhancing capability and fostering a strong SHE culture on sites and within and beyond the Unilever organization.

Key responsibilities
  • Leadership and Ownership: Responsible for select global Standards, Systems, Programs and Solutions of the Expertise Platform and the in-year and longer term deliverables.
  • Leads, and mentors users across the globe; sets and agrees deliverables, provides guidance and support to ensure effective implementation of the expertise platform deliverables in the area of responsibility.
  • Is the overall subject matter expert of Water
  • Leads by example; speaks up, encourages safe behaviors and practices, fosters a learning environment
  • Stays abreast of industry advancements and regulations as it relates to the selected scope and builds best available technology into Unilever.
Global Standards
  • Develops, reviews, and updates selected scope within the expertise platform in line with international regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Responsible for enabling all sites to comply by ensuring design and timely implementation of the needed updates, tools, training, certification & support
  • Develops and delivers E training programs to employees globally, ensuring awareness and compliance with these E standards.
Global Systems, Programs and Solutions
  • Is responsible for systems and programs within the selected scope in the platform, improvements and implementation as agreed in year
  • Is responsible for delivering the Global (digital) project and/or Global (digital) tools at agreed priority sites in year and/or the improvements of the project within the Expertise platform
  • Works with engineering to control risks and hazards within the expertise platform scope to proactively reduce risk to people, community and planet effectively
Continuous Improvement
  • Reviews investigations of Environmental incidents, analyzes root causes, and implements preventive measures across all regions.
  • Identifies structural issues and initiates improvement initiatives to enhance Environmental performance and reduce risks globally.
  • Ensures horizontal expansion of best practices and lessons learned to avoid reoccurrence of incidents
  • Leads investigations of highly impactful events when called upon.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders globally to promote Environmental initiatives and foster a culture of Zero Harm.
  • Fosters the relationships within SHE and with other functions to deliver with impact
  • Comfortable with and able to influence senior leaders in SHE and across the business to deliver with impact
Required qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in training and/or environmental management, preferably in local, regional and global roles at a multinational. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to deliver on time in full through others
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and site personnel.
Preferred qualifications
  • Certification in environmental or safety training (e.g., ISO, OSHA, NEBOSH) is a plus.
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in SHE management systems and tools
Compensation and benefits

Pay: The pay range for this position is $99,760 to $149,640. Unilever considers a wide range of factors in compensation decisions, including skill sets, experience, training, licensure/certifications, qualifications and education, and business needs.

Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.

Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
