Job summary

Ultimate Staffing Services is seeking a Temporary SharePoint Designer for a 6-month assignment to spearhead the modernization of our internal portal. You will build new intranet pages and update legacy ones to a clean, modern, user-friendly standard.

The ideal candidate brings strong MS SharePoint expertise, excellent layout and information architecture skills, and a commitment to brand alignment across digital touchpoints. Proficiency in HTML/CSS and MS 365 is expected.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of direct experience managing, building, and configuring content within Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Proficiency with the SharePoint modern experience, page creation, and hub/site navigation.
  • Experience with SPFx and web parts; familiarity with HTML/CSS.

Job description

Salary: USD45 - USD45 per hour

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Temporary SharePoint Designer for a 6-month assignment to spearhead the modernization and expansion of our internal portal. The primary focus of this role is to build out new, highly functional intranet pages and systematically update existing legacy pages to a clean, modern, and user-friendly standard.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in Microsoft SharePoint, excellent layout and information architecture skills, and a commitment to maintaining visual and narrative brand alignment across all digital touchpoints.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the Director of Internal & Executive Communications, the duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Portal Expansion & Modernization
    • Design, build, and deploy new internal portal pages within the SharePoint-based ecosystem based on departmental needs.
    • Audit and audit-restructure existing legacy pages, transitioning them from outdated layouts to clean, responsive, and intuitive modern SharePoint experiences.
    • Optimize navigation and page layouts to ensure information is scannable, intuitive, and easy for internal audiences to locate.
  2. Digital Collaboration & Brand Alignment
    • Partner closely with our Technology Services and other internal departments to gather content requirements, assets, and functionality needs for new and updated pages.
    • Ensure all visual assets, typography, and messaging adhere strictly to established institutional web and brand guidelines.
    • Assist in building clean, standardized templates that internal content owners can easily maintain moving forward.
  3. Quality Assurance & Technical Upkeep
    • Conduct thorough quality assurance testing across modern pages to ensure cross-device responsiveness, functional links, and proper permissions.
    • Troubleshoot basic configuration, layout, or web part issues within the SharePoint environment.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • 5 years of direct experience managing, building, and configuring content within Microsoft SharePoint (experience with higher education portals or modern SharePoint communication sites is highly preferred).
  • Proficiency with the SharePoint modern experience, page creation, and standard hub/site navigation structures.
  • Experience with the SharePoint Framework (SPFx) and web parts.
  • Familiarity with basic HTML/CSS is a strong asset for handling custom formatting anomalies.
  • Comfort utilizing the Microsoft 365 suite to integrate forms, lists, or document libraries seamlessly into portal pages.
  • A strong eye for digital layout, scannability, and user experience, knowing how to organize information is visually engaging and accessible.
  • Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with various campus stakeholders. Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple page-build workflows simultaneously to meet deadlines.
