Activities & Volunteer Coordinator
Hours: Tuesday - Friday, 10am-8pm (schedule may vary with advance notice)
Status: Full Time Non-Exempt
Reports to: Shannon West Homeless Youth Center, Case Manager Supervisor
Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Shannon West Homeless Youth Center, Case Manager Supervisor, this position supervises volunteers, community members, and donors while onsite at SWHYC. It involves planning, coordinating, and consulting on all volunteer and community/donor activities and events at SWHYC, and supporting the Community Relations team.
Duties, Functions, and Responsibilities:
- Identify volunteer and activity needs within SWHYC.
- Plan and execute volunteer activities and events, especially life skills classes.
- Draft proposals for new activities and events.
- Prepare volunteers to support staff, clients, and operations.
- Greet volunteers, community members, and donors upon arrival and serve as their onsite contact.
- Coordinate scheduling and planning of activities with the Volunteer & Community Engagement Specialist.
- Maintain and distribute a calendar of activities weekly to staff.
- Evaluate volunteer activities for effectiveness and implement improvements.
- Keep records of volunteer and client sign-ins and prepare activity reports.
- Document activities with photos/videos per media policy.
- Coordinate in-kind donations and send thank you notes promptly.
- Maintain communication with the SWHYC team regarding duties and events.
- Create and distribute flyers for upcoming events and activities.
- Plan holiday activities and donation drop-offs in coordination with the team.
- Coordinate with Employment/Education Coordinators to identify volunteer needs.
- Develop relationships with community and corporate groups.
- Maintain and update SWHYC wish list.
- Inform volunteers of SWHYC rules.
- Attend meetings with relevant staff and teams.
- Report program violations within 24 hours.
- Provide crisis intervention when needed.
- Complete required paperwork, including incident and runaway reports.
- Provide transportation and chaperone when necessary.
- Attend scheduled trainings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

- Experience with homeless and at-risk youth.
- Ability to follow complex instructions and analyze situations effectively.
- Effective communication skills with diverse populations.
- Strong written, verbal, and listening skills.
- Judgment and order maintenance in crises.
- Flexibility and adaptability.
- Ability to build cooperative relationships.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Understanding of agency policies.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Canva.
- Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
Qualifications, Education, and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED, with 3-5 years of volunteer management and event experience.
- Valid Clark County Health Card.
- Pass annual TB test.
- Maintain current CPR/First Aid certification.
- Clear background check and drug screening.
- Valid NV driver’s license with a clean DMV record; quarterly Driver History Reports required.
