Job summary

AMPP seeks an experienced East Asia & Pacific Area Manager to lead growth and strategic presence across China and the broader region from its Shanghai office. You will serve as AMPP's primary in-country representative, building relationships with members, government bodies, corporate partners, and academic institutions to advance membership, programs, and revenue.

You will develop regional initiatives, monitor regulatory changes, and collaborate with global teams to tailor engagement strategies

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of experience in business development, regional management, government or industry relations, or stakeholder engagement.
• Experience conducting business in China and knowledge of its commercial, regulatory, governmental, and cultural environment.
• Experience with Chinese government agencies, regulatory or standards bodies, state-owned enterprises, private companies, academic institutions, or industry associations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute growth strategies with emphasis on China and the broader EAP region.
• Identify and pursue business opportunities across key industries (Maritime, Civil Infrastructure, Energy/Oil & Gas, Defense, Mining, Manufacturing, Water/Wastewater).
• Serve as AMPP's primary in-country representative and build relationships with members, chapters, corporate partners, government agencies, regulators, and industry associations.
• Establish strategic partnerships to expand AMPP's membership, certification, education, sponsorship, and revenue.
• Represent AMPP at conferences, forums, trade exhibitions, government engagements, and stakeholder meetings.
• Monitor policies, regulations, standards, procurement practices, and market trends affecting regional strategy.
• Provide leadership with market intelligence and risk/opportunity assessments.
• Collaborate with internal teams to develop regional conferences, training, and events.
• Adapt programs to local language and business requirements while upholding AMPP's brand.
• Manage budgets, forecasts, vendors, and financial performance per AMPP policies.
• Track stakeholder engagement, opportunities, regional risks, KPIs, and outcomes for leadership.
• Lead special projects and strategic initiatives supporting global growth.
