Job summary

Highline Warren Distribution is seeking a Shag Driver to operate a shag truck, move semi trailers between facilities, and ensure safe loading and transport.

The role requires a Class A CDL with a clean driving record, English literacy, and the ability to obtain a forklift license. Hazmat not required but preferred. The job is in a warehouse environment with strict safety standards and manual handling.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate shag truck and maneuver trailers between facilities.
• Spot correct trailers into dock doors for loading and unloading.
• Inspect and report repairs or safety issues; complete records.
• Perform yard checks and coordinate with management on conditions.
• Pack/secure outgoing shipments per tickets; maintain housekeeping.
• Ensure compliance with safety rules and company policies.

Job description

The Shag Driver is responsible for operating a shag truck to move semi trailers in and out of loading docks and around or between the companys manufacturing and distribution facilities The individual in this position will transport trailers and products in accordance with company procedure and will maintain accurate records of all activity paying attention to details to ensure compliance with company quality and safety standards This position is located in a warehouse environment subject to extreme temperatures and dust Moderate to heavy physical labor such as moving and lifting heavy items is required on a regular basis ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To Perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential function Safely operate shag truck and maneuver trailers so as to prevent injury to oneself and to others in and between company facilities as well as ensure no property damage occurs to docks fences gates other vehicles etcEnsure that correct trailers are spotted into correct dock doors for loadingEnsure trailers are locked properly to ensure safe forklift operation conditions in the trailersEnsure cargo is loaded appropriately for safe transit and trailers are sealedEnsure trailers are not pulled away from docks until properly cleared for removalInspect and report any repairs or maintenance needed safety malfunctions and damage to equipment Perform routine checks such as oil level tire pressure fueling etcIn accordance with company policy accurately and promptly complete appropriate work recordsPerform yard check of all trailers in drop yards and docks Notify management of yard conditions requiring necessary action such as snow removal or gradingPack and secure outgoing shipments in accordance with pick tickets and customer requirements using strapping bracing or padding to prevent shifting or damageMaintain good housekeeping and regularly clean work area machines and equipmentIdentify and contribute to continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs or increase productivity without reducing effectivenessMaintain an open and candid working relationship with immediate supervisormanager in discussing matters of importanceAdhere to established company values practices policies and procedures at all times Follow and support compliance with all applicable safety rules laws regulations and standardsDemonstrate regular and punctual attendance at the assigned work location
