SH&E Specialist

Responsibilities
  • Provide robust knowledge of policies, standards, and regulations for industrial hygiene and personnel safety topics
  • Drive program management and align business practices with corporate standards to ensure compliance
  • Support a goals-driven health and personnel safety improvement culture by generating reports, metrics, and engaging with site teams to identify best practices
  • Deliver training on health and safety topics, emphasizing Chemical Hazard Communication, Industrial Hygiene, and Life Safety Rules such as Permit to Work, Elevated Work, Personal Protective Equipment, Manual Handling, Electrical Safety, and powered device lifting
  • Provide direct support to operations and stocking sites, preparing teams for third‑party regulatory inspections and internal assessments of personnel safety and industrial hygiene compliance
  • Develop competencies of facility managers and safety coordinators by facilitating resources that promote sustainable health and safety best practices
  • Conduct health, safety, and environmental assessments using designated platforms and support incident investigations with clear root cause analysis and corrective action planning
  • Coordinate with broader business units to ensure alignment on personnel safety and industrial hygiene topics, sharing best practices and promoting awareness through effective communication
Qualifications
  • Hold a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, industrial hygiene, chemistry, or a related field
  • Possess 5 to 10 years of experience in operations or chemical manufacturing environments with strong knowledge of federal and state regulations and industry best practices
  • Demonstrate excellent training and presentation skills for diverse audiences, with the ability to organize and deliver instructional content effectively
  • Bring specialty experience in industrial hygiene, OSHA compliance, respiratory and hearing protection risk assessments, and familiarity with Permit to Work, Lockout/Tagout, Elevated Work, Hot Work, Materials Handling, and Hazard Communication with GHS classification
  • Exhibit a hands‑on approach and a strong sense of urgency in managing safety programs and compliance
  • Communicate clearly and build strong interpersonal relationships across all organizational levels
  • Be proficient in computer applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and custom database navigation
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple priorities and leading small teams
  • Willingness to travel 30 to 50 percent as required to support site operations and initiatives
