Job summary

Pearce Services seeks SGRE Uptower Wind Technician to perform up-tower repairs and diagnostics on wind turbine components across North America. You will climb towers, troubleshoot electrical systems, and work with generators, converters, and controllers.

The role requires Direct Turbine Specific experience (GE, SGRE, Suzlon) and SGRE Green Profile, with travel on a 6 weeks on, 1 week off rotation. OSHA safety compliance is essential and English fluency is required.

Qualifications

• Direct turbine experience with GE/SGRE/Suzlon preferred.
• SGRE Green Profile required.
• MCE experience with lifting/hoisting knowledge.
• Generator and gearbox bearing exchange experience required.
• Ability to measure and interpret digital/analog calipers.
• English proficiency for safe operation and communication.

Responsibilities

• Repair wind turbine electrical systems safely and efficiently.
• Read and interpret wind turbine schematics from multiple manufacturers.
• Perform LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) as an Authorized Person.
• Support lifting operations for large components as verification allows.
• Climb wind turbines up to 300 ft as required.
• Coordinate with team and customers on daily tasks.

Your Impact

Our SGRE Certified Uptower Repair Wind Technicians will be performing up-tower repairs and diagnostics on medium & major components including Generator Bearings, Generator Slip Rings, Rotor & Stator Cables, Gearbox HSS replacement, HSS bearings, IMS replacement, IMS bearings, Yaw Drive Repair/Exchange, Generator Exchanges & Trunnion Pin Repairs. Carry out daily tasks such as cleaning, organizing, minor assembly, minor service & troubleshooting. They are required to climb vertically at least 300ft. Must maintain certifications in all areas required by the position. The Position is 100% travel currently on 6 weeks on 1 week off rotation.

• Conduct safe and efficient repairs to all Wind Turbine electrical systems.
• Detailed knowledge and skill in generators, converters, controllers, and electrical equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics by various Wind Turbine manufacturers.
• Direct Turbine Specific experience is required- GE, SGRE, and Suzlon experience is preferred.
• May be required to perform LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) of equipment as an Authorized Person.
• At times, you may be required to support lifting operations following skills verification of Large Components.

• MCE experience required with additional knowledge in lifting/hoisting operations.

• Ability to measure and interpret digital and analog calipers.
• At times, you may be required to support lifting operations following skills verification of Large Components
• Small to medium corrective work experience required.
• Must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English to safely perform job duties, interpret technical instructions, and communicate effectively with team members and customers. Interpreter services are not available for this position.

Physical/Work Environment

At Pearce safety is our number one concern. Candidates must be able to comply with OSHA Standards.

• Ability and willingness to climb a wind turbine vertically at least 300 feet.
• Maintain a weight between 120 and 280 pounds, including clothing and boots, for OSHA safety compliance.
• Lift and move equipment as needed (more than 50 pounds).
• Work in an indoor or outdoor environment in adverse weather conditions with blowing pollen, dust, and grasses.
