As a Safe Families for Children Program Supervisor, you’ll help carry this mission forward and make a meaningful impact every day.

How Your Role Makes a Difference
  • Work collaboratively with Bethany’s National Safe Families’ leadership team to implement the mission and philosophy of Bethany and Safe Families;
  • Attract and retain quality staff by following the established Human Resource policy and practices;
  • Provide regular supervision and performance reviews, according to state licensing regulations and agency standards;
  • Participate in staff conferences, policy and practice development meetings, and other relevant meetings, as necessary;
  • Effectively track and maintain reports on pertinent program recruiting information, training, and vetting of volunteers, including reviewing all volunteer assessments and approvals;
  • Provide supervisory oversight of all hosting and family friend activities, including required documentation of supervision in the Safe Families database;
  • Facilitate and participate in quality assurance and quality improvement activities (including but not limited to fidelity measures and peer record reviews), as requested and/or initiated by BCS or the Safe Families for Children Alliance;
  • Ensure the professional standards of the program are met as defined by the organization and the program expectations;
  • Cultivate a highly motivated, innovative, and creative culture that yields new solutions across staff and volunteers, while fostering a “can do” attitude and environment;
  • Direct, manage and maintain an effective model for recruiting, training, approving, and engaging volunteers, while also reporting progress against key performance indicators;
  • Provide weekly supervision with staff, volunteers, and interns, and document this supervision as required by Bethany and according to the Safe Families fidelity measures;
  • Attract, recruit, and develop a volunteer leadership team that assists with leading the Safe Families program within the respective Bethany branch;
  • Oversee church engagement by growing a network of faith communities and building ministry leaders and leadership teams who will recruit and support volunteers;
  • Maintain strong communication with Safe Families church team leaders in order to assist with resource direction for volunteers and encourage post-hosting connections between family and volunteers;
  • Ensure all volunteers and staff are following the applicable policies and procedures in accordance to the program guidelines, agency expectations, and their job responsibilities;
  • Effectively utilize print, web, and video resources to raise awareness of Safe Families for but not limited to the purposes of volunteer recruitment and the promotion of services;
  • Assist in addressing difficulties with volunteers or Safe Families partners as they may arise;
  • Network and foster good relationships with other agencies and their staff, while promoting the Safe Families service to potential referrers within targeted communities to create a referral base and resource network;
  • Participate in fundraising activities and events that promote the Safe Families for Children movement;
  • Serve as a champion for the compassionate ethos of Safe Families, and show kindness and hospitality to those in need;
  • Essential job responsibilities may vary based on the specific needs of each program/department;
  • May be required or asked to participate in a Bethany sponsored event;
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
What Will Make You Successful
  • Bachelor’s level degree in Social Work, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Child Development, or related field of study from an accredited college with at least five (5) years of experience in a similar role;
  • Master’s level degree in Social Work, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Child Development, or related field of study from an accredited college, preferred;
  • At least one (1) year of prior experience managing others;
  • May require professional licensure in the respective state, if supervising Safe Families staff or interns;
  • Demonstrated experience with public speaking, public relations, networking, recruiting, training, coaching, and program administration;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Ability to utilize social media to recruit volunteers and promote Safe Families;
  • Demonstrated ability with working autonomously and taking initiative; Reliable with time sensitive deadlines and tasks;
  • Exercise a high level of confidentiality;
  • Work well under pressure and adaptable to change;
  • Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Must be 21 years old with a valid driver's license with at least 3 years driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany;
  • Must pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate coverage;
  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries;
  • Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Commitment to Unity.
