Job summary

Responsibilities

• Administer and support retention and success programs for State Farm Scholars.
• Provides supervision and direction duties such as hiring, training, evaluating professional staff, and ensuring policy compliance.
• Collaborate with Admissions, Financial Aid, Advisement Center, and Career Services to onboard and support State Farm scholars.
• Manage all State Farm initiatives and data tracking.
• Serve as an academic coach and mentor to scholars.
• Provide programming, resources, and outreach to State Farm scholars.
• Maintain records and provide narrative and/or written progress reports, including budgets and program assessments.
• Prepare and report on metrics for State Farm partners.
• Use data and predictive analytics to design timely interventions for student support.
• Partner with academic, enrollment, and student engagement units on retention and graduation programming.
• Assist with hiring/training of student assistants, peer mentors, and volunteers.
• Teach GSU 1010 courses and perform additional duties as assigned.

The Office of Student Success at Georgia State University seeks aProgram Director, State Farm Scholars to join its pioneeringFirst-Year & Transition Programs team, ranked as a nationalleader for innovative approaches to learning communityimplementation and higher-education retention. This student-facingposition utilizes diligent academic interventions and strategicprogramming initiatives to support the success of our State FarmScholars on Georgia State's Decatur campus location. Providing ourscholars with both encouragement and accountability, the ProgramDirector will track students' term-by-term enrollments and guidethem through successful transitions for every collegiate milestonealong their journey of academic discovery. This position serves onthe frontlines of fulfilling some of the university's mostessential Strategic Plan goals and institutional values, includingthe commitment to helping students from all backgrounds succeed athigh rates. This position is responsible for regularly deliveringtargeted programming and driving engagement to this special cohortof scholars. The selected individual for this role will work inconjunction with campus partners and the wider resources availableon behalf of the First Year & Transition Programs team toultimately support the retention, progression, and graduation ofour State Farm scholars at Georgia State University.

Essential Job Functions

• Administer and support retention and success programs,activities, and initiatives focusing on the support of State FarmScholars and the university.
• Provides supervision and direction duties such as hiring,training, and evaluating professional, graduate, and undergraduatestaff. Advise and lead staff regarding university policies andprocedures, and technical systems such as, but not limited to EABNavigate and Banner.
• Work with partners in Admissions, Financial Aid, UniversityAdvisement Center, and University Career Services to onboard andsupport State Farm scholars.
• Manage all State Farm initiatives and data tracking.
• Be highly accessible to individual scholars as an advisor andmentor on academic and personal concerns that impact academicperformance.
• Serve as an academic coach to help scholars identifytheiracademic potential and eliminate obstacles to their goals andobjectives.
• Provide programming, support, resources, and outreach to StateFarm scholars.
• Maintain records and provide narrative and/or written progressreports as directed, including program assessments/evaluations,budget reports, and program reports for each cohort of State Farmscholars.
• Prepare and report on metrics for State Farm partners.
• Use data and predictive analytics to design timely andstrategic interventions for student support.
• Partner with academic, enrollment, and student engagement unitson retention, progression, and graduation-orientedprogramming.
• Assist with hiring, training, and supervision of studentassistants, peer mentors, and volunteers.
• Provides additional support to the wide range of programmingwithin Student Success Programs and First-Year and Transitionprograms that will impact the State Farm program.
• Assist in the construction, design, and distribution of StudentSuccess programming publication and resources designed to promoteand retain State Farm scholars.
• Facilitates academic success workshops.
• Answers email inquiries from the relevant First-Year andTransition Programs email accounts sent by students, instructors,faculty, and staff.
• Supports First-Year & Transition Program's initiatives andevents including presentations, workshops, events, outreach,administrative processing, and other duties as assigned.
• The Program Director will be expected to teach GSU 1010courses.
• Complete additional duties as assigned.

SPONSOR FUNDED:

This is a regular, full-time position which involves on-campusand online duties, with job continuation dependent upon grantfunding.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in related field and four years of supervisory/management experience; or a combination of educationand related experience; or Bachelor's degree and six years ofrelated experience; or a combination of education and relatedexperience.

Preferred Hiring Requirements:

Preference may be given to those who possess a master's degreeand experience in implementing programs for retention andprogression to graduation and success for all students suchasbridge programs, academic coaching, peermentoring, financialliteracy, transition from HS to college, etc. Experience presentingto small and large groups; effective verbal and writtencommunication.
