Job summary

Municipality of Anchorage seeks a Nurse leader to supervise the Sexual Health Clinic (SHC) Program within the Anchorage Health Department. You will direct the Clinic and Outreach teams, mentor nursing staff, and collaborate with the State and grantors to address community health needs.

The role requires an RN license with 5 years in nursing/public health, including 2 years in lead supervisory roles; a Master’s degree qualifies with 3 years in leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and RN license with 5 years nursing/public health experience, 2 years in lead/ managerial roles.
• Master’s degree in Nursing with RN license and 3 years nursing/public health experience, 2 years in lead/ managerial roles.
• Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License at time of hire.
• Current CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
• Background check and DHHS HIPAA certification as required.
• Preference for Certification in Public Health (CPH) and/or Public Health (GC).

Responsibilities

• Provide overall supervision and management for SHC Program including Clinic and Outreach teams.
• Plan, direct, and evaluate staff and program team leads; coordinate with department supervisors and stakeholders.
• Ensure SHC teams comply with federal, state, and local laws and grant specifications.
• Oversee grants preparation/management for SHC, HIM, and DPC programs; conduct outreach at partner sites.

Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.

This position provides overall supervision and management for the Sexual Health Clinic (SHC) Program, which includes a Clinic team, an Outreach team, and Advanced Nurse Practitioner(s). Plan, direct, and evaluate staff in SHC while overseeing and directing program team lead positions who plan and direct staff in the Clinic and Outreach teams. Work with department supervisors and SHC staff, the State of Alaska, grantors and community agencies in assessing community needs to provide programs/projects related to sexual health and reproductive health. Assist with preparation and management of Federal and State grants, which fund SHC, Health Information Management (HIM), and the Disease Prevention and Control (DPC) Program. Ensure that all SHC teams and staff adhere to federal, state, and local regulations, laws, and statutes pertaining to fiscal responsibilities, clinic services, standards of care, staff position duties, and grant specifications. Ensures that SHC staff provide outreach and education at community partner locations such as medical facilities, media sites, academic institutions, and correctional facilities. Provides oversight and mentoring of registered nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel for clinical assessment and management of clients seeking services related to disease/infection prevention, treatment, family planning, and epidemiological investigations related to sexual and reproductive health. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, a current Registered Nurse License and five (5) years of experience in nursing or public health, two (2) years of which must be lead, managerial and/or supervisory nursing experience.

OR

Master’s degree in Nursing, a current Registered Nurse License and three (3) years of experience in nursing or public health, two (2) years of which must be lead, managerial and/or supervisory nursing experience.

A valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.

Current American Red Cross/American Heart Association Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification (CPR) or equivalent within 90 days of hire.

DHHS HIPPA certification within 30 days of hire.

Preferences:

Certification in Public Health (CPH), and/or Public Health (GC).

If selected for hire, appointment in this position will be conditional based upon satisfactory completion of a national criminal background investigation (AS 12.62.160) and (AS 12.62.400). Accordingly, it will be necessary for the selected applicant to provide certain identification information and be fingerprinted. Fingerprint cards must be dated within 30 days from date requested. The processing fee of $47.00 plus the cost of being fingerprinted (variable) is the responsibility of the selected applicant and must be accomplished before beginning work.

All required certifications and licenses must remain current for the duration of employment.

Military Service Interview Preference
