Job summary

The Lansing School District in Michigan is hiring athletic coaches who will recruit and lead teams, coach to a competitive record, and ensure academic success for the season in accordance with MHSAA policies.

You will coordinate practice and game schedules with the Athletic Director, organize offseason training and clinics, and uphold the district's mission of safe, nurturing environments and equal opportunity for all students.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching at high school or college level.
• Familiarity with MHSAA policies and district rules.
• CPR certification and basic first aid training.

Responsibilities

• Recruit a full team for the season.
• Coach teams to a competitive record.
• Support players academically throughout the season.
• Lead in-season tutoring and comply with MHSAA policies.
• Organize and communicate practice and game schedules with the Athletic Director.
• Maintain and distribute team equipment and jerseys.

• Collaborate with the Athletic Director and other staff to support the district’s mission.

Job Overview

In the pursuit of our mission, we are hiring athletic coaches. These individuals will be responsible for supporting their team(s) success, including in the classroom. In particular, the coach will be expected to recruit a full team, coach their team to a competitive record, and ensure their team is academically successful for the whole season. They will also be encouraged to provide offseason training opportunities and expected to lead in-season tutoring, in accordance with MHSAA policies.

• Previous successful coaching experience
• Knowledge of high-quality coaching tactics and practice drills
• Knowledge of MHSAA & LSD rules and policies
• CPR Certification & first aid training
• Alignment with Lansing School District's mission and values
• Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate
• Successful NCAA athletic career
• Lead and support your team(s) throughout the entire season
• Recruit a full team of players by the first day of the season, including running competitive tryouts if necessary
• Coach your team(s) to a winning record, with the goal of reaching and excelling in postseason play
• Ensure all your players are academically eligible and successful throughout the entire season
• Organize and communicate consistent practice and competitive game schedules in collaboration with the Athletic Director
• Maintain and distribute team equipment and jerseys at the beginning and end of the season
• Organize and operate offseason conditioning, training, and clinics for both team members and community members
• Abide by all MHSAA policies and regulations
• Other duties as assigned to best support the Lansing School District mission
