Job summary

Lansing School District in Lansing, MI is hiring athletic coaches to support team success on the field and in the classroom. Coaches will recruit players, lead practices, and drive competitive performance while ensuring academic eligibility for the season.

Responsibilities include coordinating with the Athletic Director, organizing schedules, and providing offseason training and community clinics in alignment with MHSAA policies.

Qualifications

• Coaching experience required and proven track record.
• Knowledge of high-quality coaching tactics and drills.
• Familiarity with MHSAA & LSD policies and rules.
• CPR certification and first aid training.
• Alignment with Lansing School District's mission and values.
• Possession of a valid Michigan Teacher Certificate.
• Successful NCAA athletic career preferred.
• Ability to lead and support teams throughout the season.
• Ability to recruit a full team by season start; run tryouts if needed.
• Coach teams to a winning record with competitive postseason goals.
• Ensure players' academic eligibility throughout the season.
• Coordinate practice and game schedules with the Athletic Director.
• Maintain and distribute equipment and jerseys at season start/end.
• Organize offseason conditioning and clinics for teams and community.
• Comply with all MHSAA policies and regulations.
• Willingness to take on other duties as assigned.

• Organize offseason conditioning, training, and clinics for team members and community.
• Abide by all MHSAA policies and regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the District mission.

Job Overview

In the pursuit of our mission, we are hiring athletic coaches. These individuals will be responsible for supporting their team(s) success, including in the classroom. In particular, the coach will be expected to recruit a full team, coach their team to a competitive record, and ensure their team is academically successful for the whole season. They will also be encouraged to provide offseason training opportunities and expected to lead in-season tutoring, in accordance with MHSAA policies.
