Job summary

Goodwill South Florida’s Miami plant is seeking an Industrial Sewing Technician to operate multiple sewing machines and contribute to producing mission-critical apparel, including uniforms, while building transferable skills in sewing, quality, and production.

Technicians are trained across machines and operations, working in a team that values safety, learning, and continuous improvement. The role supports national service and community impact through the AbilityOne program.

Qualifications

• Experience operating industrial sewing machines in a manufacturing environment (6 months to 1 year).
• Ability to sew accurately across multiple operations and materials.
• Experience with heavy-duty and automated sewing equipment is preferred.
• Education: High School diploma or equivalent is acceptable (not required).

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of industrial sewing machines (single/double needle, walking foot, overlock).
• Align fabric and components using guides, templates, and machine settings.
• Perform basic to complex sewing operations to join or decorate garments.
• Meet productivity and quality standards and inspect work-in-process for defects.
• Maintain machines—thread, bobbins, needles, and routine preventive maintenance.
