Job summary

Goodwill Main Plant-GWIMP in Miami, FL is hiring an Industrial Sewing Technician to build mission-critical apparel, including U.S. military uniforms, while developing skills in sewing, quality, and production.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent not strictly required; all education levels accepted.
• Minimum 6 months to 1 year of experience operating industrial sewing machines in manufacturing.
• Ability to sew accurately across multiple operations and materials.
• Experience with heavy-duty and automated sewing equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of industrial sewing machines (single/double-needle, walking foot, overlock) and quality checks.
• Align fabric and components using guides and templates to ensure correct assembly.
• Perform basic to complex sewing operations to join and decorate garments.
• Meet productivity, First Time Quality, and attendance standards.
• Inspect work-in-process and finished garments for defects and correct issues.
• Thread machines, insert bobbins, change needles, and select appropriate threads.
• Monitor machine performance and escalate issues requiring maintenance.
• Perform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Verify correct operation sequences and material matching per work instructions.
• Support peer training and cross-training of operators as assigned.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities (5S, TPM, ISO/QMS).
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment; uphold customer service values.
