Job summary

Fire-Dex, Inc. is seeking a Production Repair Associate in Charlotte, NC, to repair firefighter uniforms and turnout gear using industrial sewing equipment. You will inspect, patch, and reinforce garments while maintaining safety standards and accurate records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required; vocational sewing or textiles training is a plus.
• Proven experience in garment repair, tailoring or industrial sewing; experience with protective gear is a plus.
• Familiarity with heavy-weight fabrics such as Kevlar or Nomex and reading repair instructions using math.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and alterations on firefighter uniforms, including turnout gear.
• Inspect garments for damage or wear and determine repair methods.
• Operate industrial sewing machines and tools for stitching, patching, hemming, and reinforcing.
• Ensure repairs meet safety standards and department specifications.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs and alterations completed.
• Collaborate with department staff to prioritize urgent repairs and manage workflow.
• Assist with inventory management of uniforms and repair supplies.
• Other duties to support the business as needed.
• Follow safety protocols and keep work area clean and organized.

Key Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

• Ability to read and interpret repair instructions, measurements, and specifications using math skills
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship and following safety standards.
• Efficient with prioritizing and multi-tasking, including being productive while handling re-directions and interruptions based upon organizational needs
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a solution focused mindset
• Self-motivated with a desire to work hard to meet goals
