Job description

Sewing Operator - Assembly 1st Shift

Immediate Start

Shift: 6:00am - 2:45pm

Pay: $16.50 per hour

Weekly Pay

Job Functions:

The sewing team member's primary responsibility is to operate sewing equipment to transform cut/shaped fabric parts and plastic pieces into finished goods or components for production.

  1. Maintain a clean and organized work area following 5S principles, including sweeping, wiping down process tables, cleaning sewing machines, and replacing worn tape.
  2. Lift cut materials and push/pull jigs on automatic machines as needed.
  3. Move carts containing materials to and from sewing machines.
  4. Perform manual sewing using sewing machines with hand/foot controls.

Additional responsibilities include:

  1. Working in a manufacturing environment that emphasizes teamwork, safety, training, and discipline.
  2. Following standardized work procedures and sequences for each process.
  3. Collaborating with the team to improve processes, identify and eliminate waste, and standardize new methods.
  4. Being responsible for the performance of the assigned work area.
  5. Participating in safety, quality, productivity, and cost improvement projects.
  6. Completing all required documentation, records, and reports.
  7. Understanding and adhering to company policies and procedures.
  8. Proactively and reactively resolving process abnormalities.
  9. Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • One to two years of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
  • Basic math skills.

Physical requirements include:

  • Talking, seeing, and hearing during work.
  • Walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting up to 30 pounds.
Environment/Conditions:

Work takes place in an automotive manufacturing plant. Personal protective equipment is required.
