The role is contract-to-hire with a Monday–Thursday 6:30 am–5:00 pm schedule; overtime on Fridays when scheduled. A High School Diploma or GED is preferred, and candidates should be able to read specifications and operate sewing equipment to ensure quality.

Back Sewing Operator
Factory West Liberty , Kentucky Contract To Hire Sep 30, 2026

We are looking for sewing operators in the West Liberty area.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Sewing Operator reports directly to the Production Supervisor and Line Lead. Sewing Operator will be performing the assembly and construction of protective-related apparel that meets customer specifications and expectations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • ABILITY TO UTILIZE RELATED EQUIPMENT TO ASSEMBLE APPAREL, MEETING EXPECTED QUALITY STANDARDS.
  • MUST COMPREHEND AND UNDERSTAND PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS, AS WELL AS AN UNDERSTANDING OF ASSEMBLY REQUIREMENTS.
  • ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND STITCH FORMATION AND PATTERN FIT FOR PROPER CONSTRUCTION.
  • MUST BE WILLING TO LEARN HOW DIFFERENT COMPONENTS (THREAD, FINDINGS, AND TRIM) ARE APPLIED IN THE OPERATION TO MEET JOB SPECIFICATIONS.
  • ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND BASIC EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE (OIL, CLEANING, ETC.).
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, work proactively and independently in a fast-changing environment.
  • Good attendance record
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Light Carrying: Physically transporting items weighing less than 15 pounds from one location to another.
  • Moderate Carrying: Physically carrying items weighing 15 to 44 pounds.
  • Usage of Hands: Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm.
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with fingers (including thumb) and palm.
  • Light Lifting: Raising objects under 15 pounds from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from one position to another.
  • Moderate Lifting: Lifting objects between 15 to 44 pounds.
  • Repetitive Motion: Substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers for sustained periods of time.
  • Sitting: Sustained periods of time
  • Visual Requirements: Ability to read computer screen and job cards (i.e. ability to read/see PC screens, detect color coding, read fine-print and/or standard-size print.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with site leadership and teammates. May be required to occasionally interact with suppliers and customers.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to comprehend oral and/or written instructions.

  • Ability to understand and follow basic instructions/guidelines.
  • Ability to complete routine forms, use existing form letters, and/or to verbally communicate technical information.
  • Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of communicating accurate information with others in a concise manner.

  • Ability to read a ruler and understand the measurements.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic skills to record, balance, and verify accuracy.
RELATIONSHIPS &CONTACTS:
  • Communicates with Supervisors, Line Leads, management staff, Sewing Operators, Quality Inspectors, and other team members. May occasionally encounter customers, suppliers and corporate staff.
PAY:

$17.54 per hour

SCHEDULE:

Monday - Thursday 6:30 am - 5:00 pm. If overtime is scheduled, it is MANDATORY and worked on Fridays.
