ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Under limited supervision, perform sewing functions to assemble parts of products.
  • Must be able to receive product parts and learn the order of parts, draw threads through needles, and adjust machine functions to meet sewing project requirements and return product to workflow.
  • Ability to solve problems and work as a team to continuously improve production processes and achieve daily production goals.
  • Complete assigned sewing work with acceptable productivity and output rates as outlined below:

Level 1: Assemble part of any product using one machine, quality level of 97% and productions efficiency levels of 80% efficiency within 90-day probationary period; must assume personal responsibility for achieving quality goals and demonstrate continuous improvement towards achieving 100% efficiency on assigned work within 6 months.

  • Notify supervisors of any problems or discrepancies during the sewing process.
  • Perform daily maintenance on machines in area as assigned.
  • Follow instructions and complete other work as assigned.
  • Practice energy conservation in every area such as turning off machine when not in use.
  • Anything else deemed necessary by the Supervisor.

SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Able to demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.
  • Able to comply with company safety, attendance and all other company policies.
  • Good communication skills both with peers and supervisors.
  • Sewing skills and the ability to cross-train on hemming, overlock, felling, single needle, binding and tacking processes.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with priorities that may change frequently
  • Some computer knowledge and able to utilize data collection systems which may include data entry into a tablet or computer.
  • Show knowledgeable use of sewing machine. (i.e., changing needle, changing thread as well as bobbins)
PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE

1 to 3 months industrial sewing and/or training preferred but not required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must have 20/20 vision or corrected to 20/20.
  • Be able to stand full shift.
  • Be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in a moderate noise level.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to reach, stretch and bend.
  • Must be able to perceive colors and shades of colors.
