Job summary

Fechheimer Brothers Company is seeking a Sewing Machine Operator to assemble tailored garments and uniform apparel in a unionized manufacturing setting for U.S. Military, law enforcement, and government roles.

You will operate high-speed industrial sewing equipment and perform manual tasks focused on precision, quality, and productivity. Initial training pays $15.00/hour with potential to earn $16.50/hour after training based on productivity.

Qualifications

  • Strong internal drive to exceed production goals in a performance-based, piece-rate environment.
  • Team-oriented with ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in operating industrial sewing machines (single/double needle, serger, programmable).
  • Detail-oriented with clean seams, accurate alignment and quality finishes.
  • Able to read instructions and perform basic math for measurements and layouts.
  • Able to work independently and manage time to meet production goals.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and learn to operate a variety of high-speed sewing machines (single/double needle, serger, programmable).
  • Learn to use materials and threads (cotton, rayon, polyester, wool).
  • Sew garment components with precision and quality stitching at various stages.
  • Participate in coaching and training on sewing techniques and garment styles.
  • Read work orders, patterns, and tech packs to fit/make made-to-measure garments.
  • Monitor productivity using digital screens and performance tracking.
